belief creates the reality, and reality is in the perception of the observer. There is no "god", but believers give the concept credence by the sheer power of their collective "faith". Just look at the mess they're leaving the world in because they want to bring about armeggedon.

I have no idea if Jamal exists or you just made him up. I suppose one way of demonstrating to my satisfaction that someone you called Jamal existing would be for you to post extensive quotes from both him and you in emails to me and for me to analyse differences between the texts to see if your language and his were distinctive enough to justify positing his existence. This can also be done with the Bible. However, i believe God exists because the way i interpret my life experience, my prayers and those of my Christian friends seem to be answered, i.e. improbable events significantly linked to the subject of a prayer occur after a prayer is said which can't be accounted for by people who are aware of the prayer acting accordingly. For instance, if someone was financially hard up and prayed publically for it in a church and then received money anonymously, that would not be a good example because it could be the generosity of people they knew, but if they were to receive a promotion from an employer unconnected to the Church and which had no connections to people who knew about the prayer, that would be good evidence.

Until you ask for help from him, you won't know! This really isn't a joke either. Do you know how many people he has personally helped. People in all different types of trouble. It's o-kay if you don't want to believe, nobody except him can make you believe. But...... you are being very nasty to the people who have had lives saved, marriages saved, new lives given to them, and an unanswered peace only he can give. That is the reason they tell you that the Lord exists, we truly want the same for you. You mock them, like God is a ghost, when and if the day occurs that you ask him for help, or someone in your family does, and he saves their life or gives them a gift that can only be done by him, I hope people don't mock you. Remember this answer because one day it will happen to you. Life and death are the only gaurrantees we have in life. I hope he saves someone very close to you!!!

I believe in God because he exists. Most Christians would say the same thing.

People's motivation to believe in something is varied. There isn't one single reason but no one will tell you that something exists because of sheer belief. No one will tell you that their belief itself is what creates God's existence. It's his existance that causes the belief not the other way around.

Now, in reality, does God really exist on his on or only through faith? That's the debate isn't it.

He exist regardless of our beliefs. Our faith in that does not suddenly make him exist any more than believe in the Empire State Building would suddenly make it exist. It is not like the fairies in Peter Pan who die if someone stops believing in them.

He was around before any of us existed - in fact he made us. So he has to exist independent of our faith.

I know that God exists because He hears and answers my prayers.

I did NOT grow up in a Christian home. I was taught that Jesus was a liar, possibly deluded or a lunatic, a deceiver, and above all else, dead.

When I was at an all-time low in my life, and somebody offered to pray for me, I figured that praying to a dead man wouldn't make much difference, so why not?

Well, he prayed (in the name of Jesus!), and much to my surprise, God answered! He gave me a revelation of Himself, and took me out of "the miry pit", so to speak. He forgave me, and I even felt clean in my heart!

Like the song says, "I once was blind, but now I see; was lost but now I'm found."

It's really hard to deny Someone exists after you've actually met Him.

So, in answer to your question, I believe because He exists, and not the opposite way around.

Additional comment to all you scoffers, critics and mockers:
Don't answer for some one else! Don't put your words in my mouth! That's rude and unsanitary, and I don't appreciate it one bit!

Go somewhere else to tear down your silly little straw men!

He "exists" because that is what they need to believe. Not knowing whats out there can be a scary thing. Some people just aren't ready to tackle that on their own and some never will be.

They believe in god because they believe that he exists to such an extent that they couldn't believe in him not existing in a world where they did not immediately commit suicide.
