therefor is it strange it is not mentioned in the bible or do the people who keep on claiming it to be a mortal sin believe it did not exist in that period?!
I will remain with what I was taught. God created everything and that for me includes people unfortunate to have been born homosexual!
What are these extremists feelings regarding the insane and those physically deformed?

Thank you Jon M, I was referring to the UK and people openly discussing the subject, not behind locked doors nor in small groups.
Your last line was the important one! This is a follow up to an earlier question I put to extreme Ulster Christians many of whom do not believe a person can be born homosexual.
Yes I have read the Bible but do not feel enough has been said in it to make people extremist if they can believe the writings of the first book.
This does bring debate, most readers I will assume are Christian yet their beliefs differ so much, this must stem from their teachers ie, their church and their ministers.
This question is not here to offend but for the extremists reading to think, 'What if ............

you say,
"therefor is it strange it is not mentioned in the bible"
I have to ask.....
Have you ever actually READ the Bible?
It was not mentioned years ago because it is a bad thing and people were ashamed of it.
Today, morals are disappearing, many people are moving away from God's Word and embracing immorality.
And it's only gonna get worse.
The Bible tells us that too.

No, not at all.
The word "homosexual" was coined by a German (maybe an Austrian, I'm not sure) in the 1870s. So it was beginning to be discussed, as we know it today, in the late 1700s.
This is from Wikipedia: The first known appearance of homosexual in print is found in an 1869 German pamphlet by the Austrian-born novelist Karl-Maria Kertbeny, published anonymously.[8] The prevalence of the concept owes much to the work of the German psychiatrist Richard Freiherr von Krafft-Ebing and his 1886 work Psychopathia Sexualis.[9] As such, the current use of the term has its roots in the broader 19th century tradition of personality taxonomy.
Prior to that, if it was discussed, people tended to think that all people were born heterosexual and only did homosexual acts to be kinky or because they were "wild."
The Greeks, for example, did not condone homosexuality like most people think. They did condone pederasty, where an older man would take a young boy and mentor him in the ways of the world: sex, apparently, was one of the "ways of the world." But two adult Greek male citizens who would've professed sexual love for each other would've been ridiculed in Greece.
In the bible, for instance, the story of Sodom and Gomorrah is not a story about homosexuals: it is a story about heterosexuals who were attempting homosexual rape.
Today we know that about 12% of people are born gay.

What a load of old tosh you are talking indeed!
From where do you get your opening statement? Homosexuality is mentioned in the bible, and it is made clear that its nasty god hates gays and wants them to burn in hell!
There is no reconciling Xtianity with decency and tolerance. You betray a lot in your phrase 'unfortunate enough to be born homosexual' - what is unfortunate about it? Nothing, except in the vile pseudo-morality that is xtian dogma! As long as you believe that, you are an extremist yourself and can't hedge your bets!

Why is it unfortunate that people were born homosexual? Because the religious right has made it uncomfortable for them to live their lives normally? I do agree with that part then.
As to it only being discussed publicly in the 20th c., that of course is untrue. Homosexuality has existed since sex has existed...i.e. since the beginning. It's sad that it is 2007 and we still have people who like to oppress people who are different than they are.

If you're talking only about American culture, then perhaps you have a point - although I doubt it.
Many other cultures were very free about homosexuality - ancient Greece, for instance. IIRC, it was even required in Sparta.
And why do you consider people "unfortunate" to have been born gay? I know quite a few who are quite content.

god talks about homosexuality a lot in the Bible. You are not born gay It's a choice you make. God clearly says men shall not lie with men and women shall not lie with women.
Romans 1:24-27 It couldn't be any more clear.

Hykinthos was the lover of Apollo.
Ganymede was kidnapped by Zeus because Zeus was
infatuated with him

What are you blabbering on about?
There are numerous references to Homosexuality dating back to 400 B.C in Classical Greek literature.
I think it's is rude to compare it to a disability, it is nothing of the sort. I cannot state wether it is a Sin or not, because I don't believe in Sin(actions being measured by God). Good day to you.
