their faith in guns will "save" them from having to go to their "Heaven" for a long time. A contradiction? "I have faith that such a place exists, but I will shoot anybody that tries to send me there by shooting me. I will shoot him first. Better he go to Heaven (or Hell) than me. And of course it is always the other person who will go to Hell for killing a fellow being. This dreamer will go to Heaven for his killing, because he reasons that if he didn't shoot the other guy, the other guy might have shot him. One killer goes to Heaven and the other killer goes to Hell. It takes a lot of faith to believe that convoluted nonsense, doesn't it?
When he meets God at the pearly gates, he will say "God, you have to let me into Heaven, because the United States Constitution guarantees me the right to own a gun, and not even God can buck the United States Constitution." And God will reply "You're right. I have been outruled by your Constition. You have beaten me with your faith!

well, i would disagree with mr. vigilantes answer. the whole point of the new testament is submission and turning the other cheek etc. it's pretty clear that jusus said christians are supposed to give up and accept being killed, but not renounce their religion. hence jesus getting crucified, stephen getting stoned to death in acts, peter getting crucified, the christians getting eaten by lions, st sebastian get shot full of arrows, etc etc.

but that was of course a long time ago, when christianity was a minority religion only popular among poor and ignorant romans. but once any religion/ideology gets coopted by a government/ruling elite/etc it will have to change to fit the needs of the government/elite/etc. which is of course happened with every major religion/ideology.

for example, in west we view buddhism as a fundamentally peaceful religion, but the buddhist government in sri lanka has no problem with bombing the tamil minority group; likewise, the buddhist government in thailand has no problem killing muslum insurgents in the south of their country. etc. etc.

i'm particular the guy who become attacking you with a gun won't being going to Heaven. Self protection and killing somebody are 2 completely opposite issues. i'm not for weapons in any respect yet I have not have been given any suited to tell others no remember if or not they like to possess one or not, fairly in the event that they're hunters. this is barely a sparkling variety of weapon, no different from swords, spears or the different archaic weapons.

Even Christ told his followers to sell their cloaks and buy a sword. You can be a devoutly religious and peaceful person and still want to defend your life, the lives of others and your country.

As someone already correctly posted the commandment doesn't not say "thou shall not kill" the correct interpretation is "thou shall not murder". Even in god's eyes there is a difference between a justifiable killing and a criminal killing.
No where in the bible does it teach that you are expected to just submit to someone when they are trying to murder you.

The commandment is most correctly translated as, ‘Thou shalt not murder’.

The Bible has directives on when to execute people. God is not a huggy-kissie, fuzzy bunny, pagan god of love. He is a God of laws.

No where in the Bible does it dictate that we should lay down and die like dogs or allow others to walk all over us nor does it tell us not to defend ourselves.

Learn what the real interpretation of " Thou shalt not kill" means and then go play in the traffic or help someone take your life so can feel superior to me which is what your whole speech is about. Feeling superior.

Great Answer HO you've got it right. You see the problem is that certain Jewish sects call themselves Christan (like evangelicals) but don't follow the teaching of my lord JESUS CHRIST more of the Jewish old testament (also known as the Torah) so the real problem is that there not Christan at all.

The risen Christ is no sacrificial lamb and when he returns he won't be turning the other cheek, however he will be kicking butt and taking names and throwing devils and demons in the "Lake of Fire".

I don't recall Christ walking around with a "Kick Me" sign on his back either. Or teaching his followers to accomidate somone trying to kill them.

But I do recall that the Disciples had their own weapons on them from time to time.

Thanks for the two!
