Just tried my first Shiraz from California ($15 Canadian) and was pleasantly surprised. I have tried many from Australia and found them a bit to bold tasting for my vegetarian meals.

Both California and Australia produce some very fine Shiraz varietals.

I would have to go with the Australian Shiraz given a choice between the two.

I prefer Australian Shiraz. I just think the taste is much deeper.

i admire Bordeaux. i think this is plenty extra versatile and is able to monstrous complexity and splendor. Shiraz on the different hand (and that i'm assuming you propose the Aussie stuff with the aid of your spelling) is somewhat heavy exceeded - fairly the Barossa Valley wines. they're yummy with a bar-b-que etc., yet lack finesse. The Shiraz is definitely better in flavour.

I think you need to find one that you like, from a personal view point I like Australian Wine but in saying that I have had superb wines from California and Chile, just go with the flow.

Theyre both rather good but I prefer the Californian wines to the Aussie ones. They have a bolder taste and a fruitier bouquet.
