Ok, so here's the down and dirty. Picture your body as a car. A car needs gas to go, right? Well so does your body only instead of gas, your body uses calories. Every day your body burns a certain amount of calories based on your weight, height, age,and level of activity. For example, a Hummer driving at 80 miles an hour is gonna use a lot more gas than a Prius going 20. Normally, your body breaks down the food you eat to use those calories but when you are dieting, things change. The food you eat no longer contains enough calories to keep your body running all day, so your body breaks down other stuff (ie fat and sugar stores) to provide you with the fuel to keep going. Basically the fat just gets "burned up."

Respiration, urination, defecation, ejaculation, and perspiration. Breathing is the biggest factor in weight loss. The body inhales oxygen and other chemicals and exhales the the chemical reaction from burned calories. The other means of expelling calories require almost as much dietary calories as input.

Why do you ask? Do you want it back?

Your body just uses it up.

When you are more active & or eat less you use up stored energy.

Call it fat. But if you really cut back you can lose muscle & other body mass. So one must be careful of how much they loose.

Your body burns it up as fuel like it normally does....It is just that for some reason (diet = less fuel entering body, or excercise=more fuel needed, or combination)...Your body is consuming more of the fat you currently have instead of retaining it in fatty depoosits
