there is a list under the sexual offences act that people especially "paedophiles" would be listed on. I wouldnt go by the gossip but i would like to be aware that my children could be living near this danger. Tell her to find a different house if shes that concerned.

Assuming you mean "paedophile", short answer is no.

I would be interested to know who has told you that "at least one" lives in this street. Sex offenders are required to register with the police, but that information is not available to the public.

Actually, of course it's highly likely that one *could* live in your street - the ones you really need to worry about are not those who have been convicted and are under monitoring by police, probation etc, but the ones who have never been caught and prey on children within families, churches, community and youth groups, etc.

I'm not sure if the Paedophile's list is available in the UK. Why not try go ogling it or phone your local police station for advice.

There has been plenty of innocent people mistaken for paedophiles and driven out of their homes by yobs. This is why the list is kept hidden.

An example of this is a paediatricians at a children's hospital was mistaken for one because of the similarity between paedophile and paediatricians.

When you click on these dots a picture of a criminal will appear with
his

The best thing is that you can show your

TechX; how about a check on your own spelling mate?

I don't think there's a published list of paedophiles available to public gaze and it's not fair to condemn anyone if you don't know their circumstances first hand.

no such list exist that is why after

The conviction of Roy Whiting for the murder of Sarah Payne

has again the raised the issue of how society deals with sex offenders,

the Parents of Sarah Payne have tried to have a new law passed

to be know as "Sarah's law"

which would be similar to Megan's law in the U.S.A

I think you mean Paedophile.

Just remember that the vast majority of abused children are abused by someone they knew, not a stranger.

Don't take the line that happened once where a paediatrician was attacked!

It's spelled "paedophile". I doubt there is a publicly accessible list for fear of lynch-mob mentality.

Additional to other answerers:
This is obviously a UK-based question.
