Samanthi: First you need to address the cause of the dandruff. Dandruff is what we call eczema when it occurs on the scalp. There are many causes, most of them based on allergies. Frequently is it to something that you are using on your skin or hair. You can try something with tar like T-Gel shampoo by Neutrogena but that just masks the symptoms. You might try using a shampoo and conditioner that don't contain lots of harsh chemicals (like for instance formaldeyde!!!! thats embalming fluid and its in lots of personal skin and hair care stuff - just start reading labels..it will scare you). Lots of people are allergic to lanolin and don't know it. That is another common ingredient. I am including two links, one is for T-Gel shampoo which you should be able to find at the drug store the other is for a chemical free shampoo and hair gel that I use.

T/Sal or T/Sel shampoo, it worked for my daughter. Costs about 7 or 8 dollars for a small bottle. But, it doesn't go away, it just gets bad certain times of the year.

selsun blue (in the blue bottle) is the best dandruff shampoo out there, according to my dermatologist. Me and my fiance use it, especially in the winter when it's colder, and we're flake free!

You could also try head and shoulders if you don't want to use a product that is so strong - but I still have bits of flakes around when I use that product.

The most likely reason for you having dandruff is if you put your hair up wet. In order to stop the dandruff you have to let it dry thuraly. Then when it's completely dry put it up.

Dandruff is basically dead skin from your scalp because it's dry. Try a moisturizing shampoo, like Dove.

by not shampooing everyday (don't believe in regular use, the unremoved extra suds will turn into dandruff) and just using conditioner everyday without applying it on the scalp. trust me, this works.

Wash out your anti-dandruff shampoo very well. Don't wash your hair too often either.

If nothing on the open market seems to work, it's time to see a dermatologist.

Good luck!
