I'm getting married 8-8-08 and I'm going to wait until after the holidays incase I put on a pound or two. I'm going to be really stressed out about the wedding I don't want to stressed out and worried about fitting into my dress. I would say a good time would be 4 to 5 months a head of time because you have to get alterations done. I hope you have a wonder wedding and long happy life together!

Know the style, or even the dress you want in advance. Two months before the wedding do the fittings. Pick up the dress four weeks before the wedding. This is for an "off-the-rack" dress. If you are having a dress special made, meet with the dress maker a year before the big event to start the initial plans.

I planned my wedding in 4 months and the hardest part was finding a dress. Most of these places wanted 6 months to order, some wanted 9 months. I remember the first time looking for dresses, I was in tears... my husband was shocked and said why would this be so difficult, people get brain surgery faster than this. It's the wedding business...

Shop now. It takes a while to get the dress and to get all the alterations done. You should try to have you dress ordered 6 months before the wedding. At the very latest, you need to order it 4 months before.
Happy shopping!

Start looking now, especially if you have no idea of what you want. Go to lots of shops, try on lots of different dresses, work out what styles and colours suit you, whether you want one custom made or just order one.....there is lots to think about. And even when you decide, some dresses take months to get made so you don't want to leave it too late. Ideally, now is the perfect time to start looking and don't leave it too long to order something, definately do it before it is 6 months until your wedding so get shopping and good luck!

Depends on your body and how fast you gain and lose weight.... If you can maintain a perfect weight without gaining a pound then you should be fine. Me on the other hand- I gain like 20 pounds from stress of the wedding and my dress didn't fit anymore!! Luckly, the david's bridal was real nice about it and exchanged dresses for me!!
Take your time looking and talk to the shop about when is the lastest you can order the dress.

Start looking now! My friend waited until about 6 months before her wedding and couldn't find anything she loved, so she ended up buying something that she felt was so-so just because she started running out of time. If you find something you love right away - great! But if it takes you a while, you'll be glad for the extra time.

Now! What are you waiting for? Not only does it take time to find your dream dress but some dresses take 6 months or more to come in once they are ordered. Then you will need 2+ months for alterations. Go this weekend.

Start NOW - First you have to choose the dress - which means a LOT of looking at a LOT of dresses. Then it has to be ordered - which can take months. Then it has to be altered to fit you properly - which can take several fittings.
And what if you lose/gain weight - that means more altering...
So yeah. now would be a good time to start.
