You are adding to the problem through cleaning. Cats will only do their stuff in clean spots. The next time you clean after the cat either put something over that spot or put some potato peels, used tea bags etc. on the floor. The best solution though is to install a cat flap so the cat can go out without disturbing you.

I can't quite tell from your question if you have a kitten or an adult cat. My adult cat was the same way, but only if I have major change in my life. Moved from an apartment into a house and she pooped on the floor for about two weeks. Got a new boyfriend, she pooped on the floor after everytime he visited. Take her to the vet, she poops on the floor. I am pretty sure she just poops out of spite. Make sure you have her litterbox in a nice quiet spot. I have always found that cats want some sort of privacy when using the box. If you can't have it it a private area, try using a box with a lid. Try spending a bit more time with your cat as well, it might be feeling a bit neglected. Hope some of those suggestions help!

Is she also urinating in places other than her litter box, or only pooping? Is this diahrea or normally formed feces? If you have scolded the kitty, and kept the litter clean, then you might take her to the vet to see if there are any problems you need to be aware of. Cats who have bladder infections will urinate outside the litter box, and then they also may defecate while they are at it. Diahrea would, of course be an indication of some sort of problem, and cats with this problem often opt for a place other than the litter box. Make sure the box is kept clean. If you have problems keeping it clean, then try using clumping litter, as it is easy to scoop (oil the bottom of the pan to make it easier to remove). Scoop daily. Make sure there have been no changes to the routine, like moving the box. Additionally, if the box is covered and the cat is afraid of a dog, or something else that may trap her inside, that might cause a problem. And finally, do you give your cat enough attention? Perhaps you are busy with work or other obligations, and the cat feels abandoned, so when you aren't looking, she is doing this because she wants some more petting or cuddling. I hope you find your solution, but if everything else fails, then take her to the vet and see if she has an infection, or ask if she can be put on a trial of anitbiotics just to see. Try having two litter boxes, too.

Have you changed brands of litter or cleaned her box so well that there's no scent of her left in it? If so, go back to the old brand of litter and put her droppings into it so it smells like her spot again. Also, you can try putting her litter box in her chosen pooing spot and when she uses the box, gradually move it back to where it originally was.
Punishment should not be used on cats, as it's by far not as effective as positive reinforcement, and the main thing it teaches is your cat to fear you. Try praising her and giving her treats when she DOES use her litter box. Also, potato can be toxic to cats, so all peels should go deep into the garbage.
That said, defecation outside of the litter box could be a sign of a serious health condition. If she seems ill in any other way (including diarrhea or constipation), or if her behavior has changed other than sneak poo attacks, take her in to see the vet.

When you lock your cat in your room, try putting a litter box maybe right in front of the door, or put a litter box in the spot she likes to do her business at.
I never had to potty train my 2 kittens, they knew where to go -- like instinct.
