I'm really keen to go abroad on holiday as I have never been anywhere. However, I don't want to go to a resort as if I'm going to another country I actually want to experience the real country, not a mini Britain. I'm pretty open to where I go but i'm not interested in sitting on a beach all day, there would have to be a bit more adventure than that.
Suggestions please?

Travel agents always want to send you to resorts. I', looking for something different. I found one holiday to egypt that included a night or two in different parts of the country - a few days on the nile - a camel ride etc, Just looking to see if there are any similar types of things in different countries. Trying to tour myself - I would def get lost.

Croatia is great it is not commercialised and you get the feel of the country - you do not see signs saying "fish & chips" anywhere !! - you can get cheap flights from UK to all parts of Croatia - I live in Southern Dalamatia (I am from the UK) and if you fly to Dubrovnik or Split (go into Skyscanner for cheapest flights) you can stay there for a few nights and then go island hopping to here (Korcula), Hvar, Brac, Vis, Lastovo plus many more very cheaply on the ferries. Accommodation is reasonable for apartments and rooms and easy to find. If you want any info at all on any part of Croatia just pm me and I will help all I can

India's good.
China
Malta (very beautiful)
Thailand
Venice
Istanbul
Paris or anywhere in France for that matter
Rio de Jenairo
Korea
Vietnam
Malaysia (I've been to both West and East Malaysia a couple of times.. and well I love Sabah it's got beautiful beaches, lotsa sun, great jungles and lovely people with an equally lovely culture and lifestyle)
but then again if you're a brit it would be a lot nearer if you were to travel around europe.

Try any city break. If you are adventurous Moscow is a great place to go but expect difficulty with the language. If you want an English speaking holiday then Toronto Canada is good. In Holland most people speak some English. Good luck go where you want to go is the answer and do what you want.

Well if you don't want to sit on the beach definitely don't go to Hawaii. :) Maybe you could go on vacation to the Rocky Mountains and get a tour guide for a real adventure. Or you could take a road trip across the country. Don't really have anymore ideas. Good luck and have fun!

I assume you live in Gt Britain. Then anywhere in Europe would be closer for you. It depends on what your preferences are. I love mountains, historical and cultural stuff, so my preferences are these in Europe: Austria, Switzerland, Italy, to name a few.
Or come over to the USA. You can visit many places of interests. We have a wide variety for different interests. Consult a travel agent.
