Fear of death is common. It is a healthy defense mechanism to keep you thinking safety, I suppose. Being dead is nothing to fear. How you get there might be something to fear, though. Obsessing about it is not healthy, though. It is addressed to some extent in this book which will help with all sorts of issues. It's a great read:

You're frightened of the unknown, and it's a perfectly normal response, but if you are becoming obsessed with death/dying - then that's unhealthy and you need to do something about it. Have you had a close family member die recently? - is that why it's on your mind?

Firstly, you need to work out, what it actually is that you are so afraid of. If you are afraid of being "non-existent", then It might help you to realise that for hundreds of thousands of years (plus) - you weren't on this earth and have no recollection of not being alive, and it will be the same after you die.

Why not talk to some elderly people about this? - you could arrange to do some voluntary work in a old people's home or as a hospital visitor or bingo caller in a day centre?

Once you talk to older people about your thoughts and fears, I guarantee you will get a different perspective on death.

Hi , well the first thing is to think positive about death for example when we die we may go to heaven and live there forever with everyone and not die again. I was like this once but you need to think of all the things after death like , no more death , no more pain and tears etc

I think that most people have quite a fear of the unknown. We don't really know what happens to our spirits after death, so it's something we are fearful and/or curious about.

You can do a yahoo search on DEATH AND DYING, FEAR OF DYING for more information. Plenty of help and information on the internet for help.... on just about any subject you can think of.

I don't know that you can "cure" your fear of death, but as a person gets older, they come to accept the fact that death is a part of life.

take care... !

Most if not all people are. If it's not actual the dying process that people are afraid of, it's the fear of the unknown. What will it feel like? What will I do? What about the people I leave behind? If you're not a Christian, one question that may scare you is 'Where will I go?' Easy, if you have accepted Christ as your personal saviour, you are automatically going to Heaven, a place of paradise, love, praise for God, and beauty. If you aren't a Christian, (you don't believe in one God that sent His son Jesus to die for you and rose again in 3 days), then you're unfortunately going to Hell, a place of eternal pain, darkness, torture, suffering, and separation from the people you love. This is easy to fix. Just ask Jesus into your life and depend on Him to help you change your life, and lead a new life with Him as a Christian. Then you needn't fear dying. No Christian does. Heaven's a whole lot better than Hell, wouldn't you agree?

Perhaps because you don't know what will happen to you? Do you believe in Heaven/Hell - do you know where you will be going? Make sure you are right with God and that you will spend eternity with him.
A second reason may just be fear of the unknown. Even if you know you are going to Heaven - you still wonder what it's going to be like and how you will feel and what you will do - it's change.

hmm....that means u love ur life too much that u don't want to die?....maybe its a good thing....
Maybe just think about it this way. Whatever that is meant to happen will happen no matter how much u try to prevent it (i hope u know what i mean). So just live everyday like ur last day on earth. Be happy...make everyone around you happy. This way when u die one day, u will continue to live in those ppl hearts. And u will have no regrets hopefully.

I used to be afraid to die when i was younger...but now....nope...just cant be bothered...haha!

Hope this helped. Take care =)

I think it is natural to fear death. It is scary because it is something you can't control and you don't know what happens after you die. I used to also worry about it but I decided that if I spent my whole life worrying about it then I wasn't really living life to it's fullest. I hope you can get over and move on.
