When I was recently in Edinburgh on holiday my friend who owns a pub was complaining about the drop in income and he fully blames the smoking ban. He was saying that he had the worst Fringe season ever because people simply don't linger and spend if they can't have a smoke.

My local pub is suffering. They are now only open fri, sat and sun. And Thursdays during the Rugby World Cup.

They soon will be empty when the new increase on alcohol tax comes into effect (not known when, but it`s coming).
