curious if anyone else thinks like i do. everyday i hear about so many unwanted kids, kids having kids. seems to me that people now adays are not responsible enough to be trusted with children. what if when you were born male or females (doesnt matter to me which) get fixed. then when you are of age to have chilrden and you have made the commitment to be a parent and have the means to do so, you could apply and get your license. i know people will say that the surgerys are not 100% safe or easy. but lets say for arugement sake that it is safe. what do you think. would this stop our countrys problems of unwanted kids. or children haveing children? do you think people have the right to have kids even if they cant afford it or take care of it? that seems to me to be childabuse? what do you think?

It is everyone's right to have a child. In the bible it states to go forth and multiply. However i do think that teenagers should be forced to get on birth control and the teenage boys should be made to use condoms.
I think for the ones that cannot support themselves should be made to remain on birth control until they can afford to have a kid, i that is what they want.

It looks like people would know by now what causes pregnancy and it looks like they would go to the health department where all types of birth control is free. How hard is it to get on birth control? How hard is it to take the time out to use a condom? If people do not have 75 cents to buy a condom then they sure do not need to have a kid because a kid costs alot more than 75 cents and if they can't afford that then what makes them think they can afford another human?

I agree to most extents here. I dont think that sterilization at birth would do the trick though. I think if that was the case, that when they were teens they would go out & not think of the consequences & more STD's or AIDs would run rampant. But I do think parenting classes should be a must to keep a baby. As well as like in the old days if a girl was a teen she was forced to give up her child. I see & hear of grandparents raising babies of their babies. (theres a girl that went to school with my oldest son last year & she was 13 pregnant & 14 a mother. Her parents are raising this child for her!!) Its sick.
I was 23 when I had my first child & I was in counceling, on my own as well as hooked up to a group of others that were in the same situation as me, & the heads of this group were also.
As to some of the comments about taking away liberties of others, hello they continually do that in society now. Seatbelt laws, smoking bans, to name a few here! Taking from the poor & giving to the rich all the time. I for once would like to see a govenor or senator get a pay cut, then raising tolls to pay for highway repairs. (which is a current situation in my state)
Okay enough ranting now. I do agree that there should be some added steps taken. Perhaps they should drug & alcohol screen pregnant women on a monthly or bi weekly basis also. Just a thought.
Good Question... have a great day!

I think that's a horrible idea! Also I saw someone say 'force teenagers on birth control' :o Are you kidding me? This country is already Orwellian enough for me thank you. What we need is a total overhaul of our society, and a revolution. It is very dangerous to give the government any sort of power in the ppersonal arena. Don't you think things like racism will be perpetuated by a 'procreation license.? '

In theory it may sound good for like two seconds, but it's ridiculous. What is also terrible is the punitive system that most children are raised in. Afford a child? Are you kidding, I'v ehad two so far, and they hardly cost a thing. Besides the govt would keep the poor breeding anyhow, to work their factories and fight their wars.....

Absolutely not. What a ridiculous plan. What we need is more education and parents that are willing to be around for their kids and teach them the difference between right and wrong. What you are suggesting is giving control of our bodies over to what...the govt.? Sure, that makes sense. That would be opening the door for all sorts of problems and other invasions into our personal lives.

Now, that being said, I do think that there are all sorts of problems with teen pregnancies and unwanted or neglected children, but education and support are the things that would make the biggest difference here. Yes, your plan would put an end to some of those things, but at what cost? And who would decide who was fit to have children? Would it be based on income, class, jobs? Certainly you can see the problems with that plan.

I would have to agree. Like a wise person once said "if you can't feed the baby, then don't have the baby." Most of the time people get it on with out the thought of having a child. Then it is too late. After that you go into freedom of choice or freedom of life issues. Yes I think you should at least take a class with a hard quiz at the end. However, there are some folks who ended up great parents that might fell that test.

I definitely think we should have to have a license to have kids. There are children being murdered every day here in the USA by their own parents. These people do not deserve to have a child. I wish there would be a law enacted ASAP to save these poor children from the hands of their horrible parents.

I believe that EVERYONE....male and female...before becoming pregnant, should be REQUIRED to take a parenting class, similar to the one some high schools have....taken the "baby" home for weekend and being responsible for it. The simulator can tell how much the baby was held, changed, cried, etc. Along with this "practice", they should be required to take a test! There are too many people "wanting something to love" and not realizing the consequences and that is a LIFE, not a toy that you can store away, when the novelty wears off!

what will a license do ??
There should only be a license, if it would result in kids staying in school, focusing on studies and getting a career, not making babies, drinks, drugs and lately fighting/killing

God should make it so that when you are emotionaly ready inside then you can or are able to get pregnant. I was watching movie "marsh of the penguins" and was looking at what they go through to mate and to get pregnant and to keep their babies, humans take everything for granted. Kids having kids just proves it.

There should be license for having sex, there are far too young kids have multiple sexual partners that when a "girl" gets pregnant most of the times she can't even pinpoint who the father could be,

There should be classes that parents HAVE to take when they have kids, on how to raise them. It should be parents obligation to sit with their kids and tell them about the dos and donts of life. Personally I "saved" myself until I was married because of the lessons my parents taught me.

But then again we are in a society and time that we can't discipline our kids the way they are needed to.

All pre-teens and teens should have to change poopy diapers at least once every six months. Remind them they would have to do that at least twice a day if they mess up and get pregnant.

Besides, how do you enforce the license deal? Force all people to wear castity belts and you can only get them unlocked if you pass a test?

I BELIEVE THAT IF SOME1 HAS 2 OR MORE DIFFERENT CHILDREN TAKEN AWAY AT DIFFERENT TIMES OR SAME ONE/ONES OR HAVE SEVERAL ABORTIONS THAT THEY SHOULD HAVE THEIR TUBES TIDE. ON TV YESTERDAY A COUPLE HAD 3 CHILDREN, EACH 1 CONCEIVED AFT THE OTHER WAS TAKEN AWAY. I BELIVE THEY BOTH SHOULD BE "FIXED".
IF A MAN HAS SEVERAL CHIDREN AND DON'T/WON'T PAY CHILD SUPPORT HE SHOULD BE FIXED. I'VE SEEN ON TV MEN W/7-10 CHILDREN AND WORKING ON HAVING MORE, ALL DIFFERENT WOMEN, AND THEY THINK IT IS A JOKE.
R SYSTEM CAN'T AFFORD THIS.
SORRY ABOUT CAPS, 1 HAND.
