Nonsense.

The Phillipine tribes practiced a variety of animist and or polytheist religions before the Spanish Conquest and missionization of many of the Phillipine Islands

Muslims have always been a minority in the Phillipines since the entrance of Islam more or less around the time of the introduction of Christianity.

The historian T.V . Sitoy estimates half of the Spanish Phillipines had been evangelized to some degree by 1591 and about a third of Fillipinos in Spanish -held territory were baptized Catholics (there were no Protestants to speak of until the end of the 19th century with the Spanish-American War) out of a population of about 700,000,starting from a convert population of 100 baptized Filipinos in 1569.

In "A History of Christianity in Asia( Vol2)" by S H Moffet(not a Catholic) p155-56,the author states" In fact, the alert friars[Catholic missionaries] in the Phillipines recognized the mistakes made in the catholic missions in Spanish America and took pains to avoid forced conversions or hasty confessions of faith."

Islam used the sword in the Phillipines to bring in and keep "converts' just as the Spanish did to "convert' people to Spanish rule and religion. Violent conquest was not always used to spread Islam or Christianity since trade, social such as intermarriage and missionary contacts brought in many. Atheism and irreligion have also used violence, and other forms of force as well as discrimmination to establish and spread itself. When atheist powers fall, religious affiliation grows greatly and openly.

While violence was not always used against Christians and Jews in Spain by Muslims during and after its violent conquest by Islamic forces, discrimmination, humiliation and taxation often was. In the case of the Muslim Almoravids and Almohades,Christianity and Judaism were crushed and even directly persecuted and banned. Those like the Christian Martyrs of Cordoba who converted out of Islam were killed and often tortured before execution throughout the Golden Period of Islamic Spain. Christians were captured in raids and enslaved and sold in the slave trade during that same period.

Christians in Mindinao can safely convert to Islam if they are so inclined, but Muslims who become Christians will be killed if Muslims can get their hands on them.
The Fillipino Muslim groups that were Muslim 300 years ago still are mainly.
Many Christian migrants from other parts of the Phillipines have have come to live over generations in areas with animist and Muslim populations

The Phillipines have freedom of religion but many Muslim countries do not and persecution of non Muslims is common in Muslim majority countries.

Muslims ruled Spain for 800 years.

Muslims ruled Spain for about 800 years. The Muslims in Spain never used the sword to force the people to convert. Later the Christian Crusaders came to Spain and wiped out the Muslims. There was not a single Muslim in Spain who could openly give the adhan, that is the call for prayers.

You have your historical facts wrong.
The religion of the native Filipino was 'amimism', much like the religions of the N/American Indians. The Spanish invaded the Philippines (named after King Philip of Spain) and forcibly introduced Roman Catholicism. Note FORCIBLY introduced. Much as they did in South America, the Spanish killed you if you rejected their religion. Local men were FORCED to build cathedrals and churches. Build or die. A great example of Catholicism?
Islam came in later and is being contained in the south of the country, that part nearest to Indonesia. As usual, any attachment to islam results in death and destruction in one way or another. So the Philippines suffers damage to its potential as a tourist destination.
Religion really is a curse upon mankind.
