In Jesus' time to be poor and sick was regarded as a disgrace, a punishment from God for open or hidden sins. The lepers, especially, suffered; they were outcasts from society.
Jesus cared for them and made clear they were not being punished.
Now as Jesus was passing by, he saw a man who had been blind from birth. His disciples asked him, “Rabbi, who committed the sin that caused him to be born blind, this man or his parents?” Jesus answered, “Neither this man nor his parents sinned, but he was born blind so that the acts of God may be revealed through what happens to him.

you should raise your view previous righteousness to underestand this. The 'Divine Being' isn't what you think of it fairly is. you're subjecting your theory to recieved techniques some divine being who's on top of problems with the result interior some style of biblical suited. the certainty is that the limitless expertise of the Universe purely is. It would not have a interest plan, it purely manifests perpetually and infinitely. The query is; do you have a interest plan? you will properly be blown around like a leaf in Autumn or you are able to take your destiny into your very own administration.

As a person with a physcal disablity and a learning disablity and a psychological disability. I would have to say that it was the luck of the draw. I was born with a rare blood deiase and con-genital dislocation of my left hip. My parents are both religious people who are deeply involved in their churches and who have made major contributions to the rest of the world while raisng nine children. What could they have done to have caused me to have a dislocated hip?? And why me why not one of my other brother's or sister? My parents spent their lives helping others. My father worked as part of the NYFD for 30 years. They also took care of forster children two of them until thier deaths as adults. My mother volenterred in the schools that we went to. She was also a Girl Scout Leader as my father was a Leader with the Boy Scouts. So answer my question for those of you who said it was God's will?? That doesn't even make sense. They never did anything that could have been constured as bad and I was a baby so what could I have done??? Remember Jesus said that the sins of the father are not visited on the children so those of you who said that it was God's choice convince me!!!

Well I am there. I never thought of it as a punishment of any kind. This has actually caused me to grow in other ways. It has actually been for me a good thing.
This is how I am, to me it is normal.
Here's a thought- many of us are not born with chromesthesia, the ability to perceive color when you hear a sound, such as a musical note. Does that mean we are disabled in some way?

I was born with a disability and I can assure you it is random chance in most cases. In other cases it is almost inevitable because both parents are carriers of a condition.

Read John 9:
John 9:1-3 KJV
(1) And as Jesus passed by, he saw a man which was blind from his birth.
(2) And his disciples asked him, saying, Master, who did sin, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind?
(3) Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him.
Some cases sin is a factor in other cases it is not. Only thing one can do is be right with God by accepting Jesus as Lord, and trusting him to enable one to work through the disability. Allowing the disability to be a witness instead of a curse.

It could be a test. If that is what it is, you keep thinking about it could be upsetting. But if you look at what have you got, you have the chace to make it to heaven. Before that, you can use your talents, maybe a peson with disabitiy could not get to places as often, so he/she might have developed patience, or reading the details, he/she could have seen something others didn't see, about life but not activities. If we could use these experiences to help those that might be having the same difficulties, it could be good.

God does not punish people by making them bear disabled children, this is genetic, or as a result of drink, drugs or smoking. All of which are self inflicted or hereditary.

God is not punishing anyone today. Jesus Christ took all the punishment for all the sins of the world on the Cross. God is now offering forgiveness and the very test score of Jesus Christ placed on YOUR paper, by simply believing that His death, burial and resurrection was sufficient to reconcile you to God . Gods Word says its TRUE...when we BELIEVE it, He says He will credit Christs righteousness to OUR account and place us in to a NEW CREATION as members of His Body.
Physical infirmities and disabilities are a result of living in a sin cursed world.

I think the idea that god did something like that to someone intentionally is very upsetting.
Not very benevolent, I'd say.
