If anybody has seen the new type of these can they say with certainty what they are ie speed cameras or ANPRs? The ones I have seen have sprung up on the A2 near Falconwood and on the A20 near the Queen Mary's Hospital.
They are situated near the old GATSO sites and are on grey ppoles that then overhang the road with what look like two cameras trained on each lane.

They are cameras that use number-plate reading technology I expect to save time on the posting of the ticket.

I used to drive the Eurolines coach from Amsterdam overnight to London and one of my greatest pleasures was setting all the old-style flashing cameras off on the A20 near London with my dutch-registered vehicle at 5 o'clock in the morning.

Well I am not even close to where you may be and don't recognize those places, but what I do know is we have cameras here in Texas that are also for highway conditions, like wrecks and weather and trash in the roads...
Things for the traffic copter to announce on the radio or TV...

All cameras are not just for speeders...
We do have those too and we have cameras that take your picture in case you cross the toll roads without paying...
I sure don't understand how they work, but they do...

My husband accidentally got on our toll road one night after a football game and it took a picture of his license plate and sent him a bill in the mail...
We were so surprised because they do not staff those roads...
He thought he got a free ride...

They sound like monitoring cameras not speed cameras. If they were speed ones then there would be road signs saying so. The average speed cameras are ones that are over the road but the actual camera bit id painted yellow, and the supports normally blue - and there will be signs saying "average speed camera"

I could be all judgemental and say dont speed but wont
