I am not saying dangerious affenders, but the people there for car offenences, unpaid tickets, offenders that are not dangerious This was done in the USA at one time, I don't know if the convicts were used in canada, but as far as i can see if they have enough people to over see them, it would save canadian cities a lot of money This could help to give some of these people a little insight and it may change thier views on crime

This actually occurs quite extensively throughout the USA. The federal prison system, as do many state systems, runs a program of prison industries where prisoners make many goods to supply to government offices, such as office furniture, etc. Additionally, many states use inmate work cadres to clean up highways. My state (NC) uses them not only for highway clean up, but also to clean state offices.

I think this is a wonderful way to pay for a non-violent first offense. Maybe a second offense depending on the situation. This is done occasionally but should be used readily.

Now it's more of a punishment to have to take time of of your busy weeks to make time to do community service then to pay a $50 fine.

I think they should put a fence around North Dakota and put them there with no shelter. When the winter comes and its negative 70 degrees, we will make room for the next group of criminals. Crime would go down extremely.

no matter how you try to sugar coat or cookie cut the crime, the fact is that they committed a crime. making all "minor" infractions only worthy of picking up trash or garbage will only make us enablers of their "petty" crimes. they will not care committing a second, third or fourth infraction because in their mind all they will have to do is pick up trash or garbage in the park. they are learning nothing.
