The Norinco M1A copies were absolute junk and the Clinton administration was responsible for the stopping the future imports of Norinco weapons. Polytech was made along about the same time. Their M1A's were better made, but not much better. Both were made betweeb 1986-1989. Current value on either one in 100% condition is $750. Norinco only is allowed to import inexpensive lever action Cowboy Shotguns now under the new import guidelines

Most people figured out what we knew back then. Firearms exported from china, especially the norinco version of the M14 had serious problems. This is caused by the lack of experience working metals in China. You could say that the metal was "soft" and lacked the proper temper for strength. Most of them had multiple problems. Like springs that failed, metal Galling, stress failure which resulted in cracks and breaks in the receiver etc. The only real cure was to have the receiver treated by a reputable company here in the U.S. but the cost was prohibitive. Also, being metric, no U.S. made parts would fit it. Then, you had the problems with the Clinton gang causing so much confusion with their useless weapons bans, that it became illegal to try to fabricate U.S. parts to fit. At any rate, the chinese firearms did not hold value and sell for the same, or less than they did when first brought into the country. I see surprisingly few of them still in working condition, and most of those belong to people who don't shoot them very much. There were a very rare few of them that seemed to hold up better than the rest, but even those will fail and cannot be kept working reliably.
Sorry

They are cheap copies of the genuine article, much like the Taurus and the Beretta handguns. The Taurus may look like the Beretta, but they sure don't work well like the Berettas. You get what you pay for.
