TEA BAGS!!
As soon as you feel the tingle/heat/tiny bump.
Put a used wet (but squeezed out) normal teabag on your lip and hold it there for about 5-10 mins. The tannin is an antioxidant.
I used to get cold sores that spread all over my face, about 5 times a year. Now, I only get one if it pops up in my sleep. It also works if you wake up and it is still 'new' or 'tiny'. It is so cheap and easy to access. Not like that £5 tube ripoff! PLEASE tell EVERYONE about this, because cold sores are horrible and this really works.

Very best of luck and happy cold sore free days to you!!

To prevent cold sores...go to the health food store, look for Solaray Turmeric. It's 95% curcumin which has many healthful benefits from cancer prevention to interfering with the replication of the DNA in virus cells. I take two of the 300 mg capsules daily and haven't had a cold sore in 15 years. Since it alters the DNA in this particular virus it may offer relief for people with other viruses. Come to think of it...I haven't had a cold in years either! Zovirax (Acyclovir) is also a treatment but one that requires a doctor's prescription.

Zovirax and zovirax - or any other cream with 5% aviclor in it. Always carry a tube with you so if you feel a slight tingle you can apply some which should prevent it deveolping. If you do get one then it will clear it up faster.
As well as feeling run down cold sores can be triggered by too much sun, touching your mouth too much & dry chapped lips so wear a lip balm with spf all year round and don't fiddle.

Treat as soon as you feel it coming, the bestest treatment is dab neat tea tree oil onto sore. it clears it in no time. Avoid zovirax because it is only meant to be used before sore appears, once it appears it feeds of the Zovirax

When I feel a cold sore coming on I use Abreva. It will usually stop it in it's tracks. If one gets by me, I still use Abreva to shorten the healing time.

You can get Abreva at any drugstore or WalMart.

I found one very good though expensive way to cure them was a couple of sessions on a sunbed, this has the advantage of making you orange like David Dickinson, you can always say you've been tangoed.

Good Luck
