I've had Hypothyroidism for a 6 years and have been taking 150mg of thyroxine a day since. As soon as I started to take it I started to notice changes for the better. I lost 4 stone within 7 months, my depression gave up and left, my skin became much better having been extremely dry, my hair grew back and I lost all the 'toad' like features. My energy levels shot up to the point where now I do cycle rides of 50miles or more whereas before I could'nt even get out of bed. I'd be happy to chat to you about it if you want. mail.

Some thyroid disorders can be cured, but many require lifetime treatment. Learn here https://tr.im/CGgWN
For example, sometimes early stage thyroid cancer can be cured by surgery to remove the thyroid gland, but you will need to take thyroid hormone medication afterwards for the rest of your life. Goiters can also be surgically removed and do not always recur after surgery. In most cases, thyroid disorders need treatment over a lifetime. However, with treatment most people with thyroid disorders can live normal, healthy lives.

Unless your under-active Thyroid was caused by a pregnancy, the only way to get your Thyroid function back to normal is by taking hormone replacement tablet. I would suggest that you only take the Synthroid brand. The US FDA [idiotically] approved generic medications a couple of years ago, but the generics do not work as well as the brand-name drug in this instance. For those with post-partum thyroid issues, the hormone levels can in SOME patients return to normal over time without taking the medication.

I didn't with T4. It took a switch to Armour thyroid for me and having it adjusted by free t4 and free t3, not by TSH. I now have relieve of my hypothyroid symptoms. All I have are cold feet at night and ridged fingernails, which I can live with. I had almost all the textbook symptoms without medication and while on Levoxyl.

yes if you receive the right dose because your only making the amount up to what your body would normally produce, making it normal, but you should have a blood test every year to make sure you are maintaining the correct dose
