I applied for a position about 4 months ago with this really great company. It came down to me and 3 other candidates. In the end, I didn't get the job. I felt that I was genuinely qualified for the position, but maybe my personality kept me from getting the job. (I often get quiet and nervous during interviews) Recently, a similar position with the same company has opened up. I contacted the ladies who interviewed me and have an interview set up. But now I am having doubts. I have been on several interviews over the past few months without a successful outcome. Whereas I feel I'm much calmer and confident during interviews, I'm not sure what my chances are considering that I haven't had any additional work experience since I last interviewed with this company 4 months ago. How can I convince them that I am the right person for the job this time around?

Don't worry! Be yourself and try to relax.

The fact that you are going for an interview with the same company again shows that you really want to work for that company - and therefore you should use it to your advantage.
You managed to get down to the last 3 last time - which means that they must seriously considered hiring you. (Why else would they call you back for interviews??)
The person that gotthe job last time might have been a tiny bit better than you - but that person is not in the running this time!
Good luck!!

Your resume is not a consideration. They've already seen that. The issue this time is your cover letter and what it doesn't say about you. Unfortunately, a good, concise cover letter cannot compensate for a type B personality. The resume gets you in and the interview gets you the job.

Go in with a note pad and take charge of the interview. If it will help, write your comments on the last page and maybe a few "bullet" answers, of anticipated questions, on the page above that. Since their questions should be quite different the second time around, ask a friend or use a mirror to do mock interviews.

Obviously, you don't want a repetition of the last interview, so don't even give it a chance to happen again. When she asks how you are doing ( Everyone does ), Say: " I'm glad you asked, because I am concerned about your impressions from my last interview and the type of personality you need for this position. Could we talk about that? ".

Every job doesn't require a P.T. Barnum or Joan of Arc and regular duties are actually better served by regular people. Use your punctuality to the interview as a springboard to show your have all of the basic qualities they are expecting. Don't try too much. Just be the person they will see every day. Good Luck.

If you are getting to the second or last interview then you have a good chance of getting the job.

The didn't reject. They didn't say no to you. They said yes to someone else. Which means, if you get to interviews, and especially if you make the final cut, then you have a good chance of getting this job.

Keep trying.

Failing that, an alternative strategy is to seek a slightly lower job that will get you the experience you need to get the job that you want.

Also check up on your referees, there may be one bitter lose saying bad things about you behind your back.
