My daughter has acne and it started showing up when she was about nine years old. It started on her chin and then started spreading to her cheeks. Unfortunately, she's got the cystic kind, which can result in scarring. I've been told that acne is often the result of hormone changes going on in the body and it is actually a skin disease. That's a far cry from the thinking that existed when I was a child. Back then, people thought acne resulted from poor hygiene, greasy foods, and other bad personal habits.
