has anyone had the problem of slugs in their home? they only seem to come out at night after we've turned out the downstairs lights.
going downstairs for a late night snack or drink is not for the squeamish. there will be at least 6-12 slugs on the kitchen floor, worktops and sink. i've tried 2 different brands of slug pellets and checked for any obvious holes in the skirting board.
mostly now i drench the worktops and sink with salt each night to save having to disinfect everything each morning.
is there any easy solution ?

walk around at night with a flashlight & bring a whole lot of salt with you. when you see a slug, start pouring salt on em & watch them die!!! it's fun!

Go to the hardware store or Home Depot or some place like that. Get some copper strip material (2 to 3 inches wide) and lay that down where they are coming in. You should be able to trace their trail back. Slugs wont crawl across copper there is a chemical reaction to their slime. You can also put out some shallow saucers with beer in them. Also get some caffeine pills and put that in the beer. Slugs love beer but the caffeine kills them. But salt is still the most fun!!

You first need to find out where these things are coming in. Could it be up a drain? How about an unused dishwasher hose or an unused water pipe?
In my garden I use a Snail and Slug bait powder. You sprinkle it around where you see them (under leafy plants) and when they eat it they die. I used it every few months for a couple of years and haven't had a snail problem in about 4 years. Putting salt on them kills the ones that are there, but you want to get them at their source.

Lately I've been finding slugs making their way into my house. One has even left a nice slimey trail on my tv speakers. I found 2 tonight on my front door. The only thing that I have tried is salting them to death. I'm about to call in a professional because its just to much for me to handle. They really gross me out. I know that finding the way they come in is the first step but I find them in all different areas of my home.

The problem evidently is OUTSIDE the parameters of your home walls. This is where experienced and reputable pest control people should be called in to handle the matter. They have the proper and effective chemical agents that they can spray in and around your home to push kill and repel any advancing slugs, keeping your home safe and clean.

This service is well worth the price.

That is kind of....disgusting!!! Make sure that ur worktops and floors are clean and that there is no food lying about which may attract them! If not find some insect repellent and make sure it is strong! Good Luck x

Try putting down a saucer with beer in it, they get drunk and drown in it, and it works for snails, it does work.
