No, it was said before that DEI would not stop Tony Jr from leaving if he wanted to leave. The agreement was that he would stay there long enough for DEI to make arrangements for his replacement.

I had heard that DEI would not stop him if he wanted to get a jump start on next yr and get over to HMS.. I'm sure Tony Gibson will do just fine he filled in when Tony Jr was doing his suspension thing for the darlington incident back in may... He is not being forced out early, I think its a good call, get to HMS and get ready for next yr and all the wins Jr will have next yr.

I don't think he's being forced out early. Jr, Rick, and Tony Jr are not willing to have a "transition period" at the start of next year. They need to get started NOW so they can be fast right out of the box next year.

This is a good deal for DEI and Jr/HMS. DEI will have Tony Gibson, who is likely to chief for DEI next year, back on the box again and getting comfortable with a team. Tony Jr will have time to get familiar with HMS setups so Jr's ready to run when the flag drops at Daytona.

I do not believe he is being forced out early. If you watched the pre race a few weeks ago he said something about trying to go over to Hendrick a little early to start learning there setup. It was his choice to leave early.
