Nothing! They don't believe in life after death. basically atheist don't even believe anything pertaining to spirits and souls as there are no scientific proofs of their existence.

Well, that all depends on whether we believe there is a soul or not. For the non-spiritual atheists, they don't believe in a soul, so obviously nothing can happen to something that doesn't exist. For the atheists who do believe we have souls, well, i'm not sure what would happen to the souls, sorry.

I think it is reabsorbed into the atmosphere.
Why do Christians think people go to a heaven when they die? Doesn't the bible say the dead are "asleep in Jesus," and that at the time of the second coming, "their bodies shall rise from the ground to meet their souls" and in that one instant, all souls will be judged at once? According to the bible, heaven and hell are both empty and will be empty until the final judgment day. Don't Christian's read the bible?

Star Trek: TNG expressed it with their transporter theory. The human is no more than the sum of its parts. If you disintigrate a human, and reintigrate him thousands of miles away, that is not killing him. It is simply recreating him with exactly the same molecular makeup. The original human didn't cease to exist, he was just recreated again. You can also not reintigrate him again, or copy him a million times, it doesn't matter.

A soul is just a metaphor for our personality and uniquness as individuals. It's not a tangible thing.

you die your soul leaves the body you take on the spirit body then gnostic belief you go to orientations .then you become a spirit guide for some one whom enters earth .once a angle your a angel but spirit guides are different then the angles -
by way change that picture .blows the thought pattern -my opinion bin laden is all ready passed over so picture means nothing change that thing

Atheists (without God) have many belief regarding an after life. Try New Age literature.
