Good for them. Why would someone stick around knowing that you are no longer interested in the relationship. You should think about why you were setting the tone for the break up. were you scared because your gf was getting too close to you? Or are you regreting the breakup only because they broke up with you first? If former is the case, then you should go to her and explain it. if it's too late, then you should be aware of your tendency and make sure you don't do the same thing in your next relationship. If the latter is the case, then let it go. Your ego can take the hit for this once, don't lead her on and break her heart later.

Buy a bullet.. rent a gun?

every time I broke up with a girl... D'oh... yea... stupid on some of those... I decided I would treat myself too something new, an adventure, something that would refill my sails kind of thing, ..... so here are some ideas, some I did, some I havn't..., yet......

Dance lessons,
Cooking class,
Sky diving,
Fly fishing,
climb a mountain
Kyaking,
Deer hunting... (4 point..oh yea...)
Read a Novel,
Night Classes,
Built a model,
got drunk,
got drunk again... (D'oh!)
took a college literature class
Went for a long drive,
Bought a discount plane ticket, round trip (cheap)
Took flying lessons,
and... got drunk again...

no nescessarily in this order.. but hey... I learned to recover from some stupid things I did.. I found I matured over time and experiences... gave me a chance too think so I wouldn't do stupid things like that again... now been married for 24 years.... so... go mature, learn... and do somethng new...

Then I guess I would say that you blew it by making it sound like you wanted to break up.

You should ALWAYS think before you open your mouth because once the words comes out, you can never take it back, no matter how hard you try to apologize, it will always be there..

Sounds like high school stuff to me. Hindsight is 20/20 - If you truly want to be with the person, let her know that. Respect her feelings on the issue though.
