It's hard to accept/ admit, but no something to be ashamed of. If you are despondent/suicidal, get help and don't be afraid, people are there to help you and won' t judge you. If you know what it is that's depressing you, that's major, and means you can possibly resolve this yourself. Depression is typically a form of inner conflict which causes us emotional/ mental pain. While it's never good to sit in bed all day, the way this is effecting you means you may need to take some time each day, alone, to deal with this and resolve it within yourself so you feel better. if you can't figh the feeling then embrace it and give yourself an allotted time to deal with it, but don't indulge or overdo it, don't let it take over your entire day, or your life. In other words, it's ok to be depressed once in a while, don't fight it, but don't let it control you. Take time, if even brief moments, to think about and participate in things that take your mind away from what's bothering you. Eventually it get's easier and you spend less time being depressed until you almost forget you were ever depressed. Beleive it or not, depending on your issue, you may even laugh about it someday.
Some famous people who have suffered from depression and mental illness: (hope this makes you feel a little better)
Abraham Lincoln, Beethoven, Bette Midler, Brian Wilson,, Brooke Shields, Buzz Aldren, Calvin Klien, Carrie Fisher, Edgar Allen Poe, Jane Pauley, Eric Clapton, Ernest Hemingway, Isaac Newton, Jackie Gleason, Kirk Douglas, Kurt Cobain, Leo Tolstoy, Mark Twain, Michaleangelo, Mike Wallace, Ricky Williams, Ted Turner, Terry Bradshaw, Vincent Van Gogh, Winston Churchill.

First of all, nobody should judge you for having a medical condition that isn't your fault. I was depressed (major depression) for many years before I finally learned why I felt so awful and, yes, depressed and anxious all the time. Let me explain, since I am also a psychiatric nurse, what being healed of depression is all about. The crux of the problem is with your brain chemicals. In depression, they disrupt the flow of transmissions, causing your brain to stop communicating with the rest of your body the way they're supposed to. The two treatments that are KNOWN to treat and resolve depression are antidepressants, and talk-therapy. In talk-therapy, the idea is not for someone else to tell you what you are thinking, or who you are...it's for you to discover what is effecting your emotions so much that it is messing with your brain chemistry. You also learn how to deal with stressors in your life. The medication, should you decide to take it, will allow your brain chemistry to recover and communicate with your body to help you feel better. That said, if you'd rather go on feeling horrible for the rest of your life, you can decide to do what you've been doing, and you'll probably feel like you've been feeling. I'm not saying this whole healing process is easy, but it works. Good luck to you.

I had depression. I was sleeping all the time. I mean, like from Friday night to Monday morning, and from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. every day. It took three doctors to figure it out. Turned out I have low thyroid. I was testing low-normal, but it was because I was on the pill. The pill was raising the test scores, but not the actual thyroid in my body. It doesn't say anything about me that I need to take a thyroid pill every day, it's just a chemical condition. Should I "tough it out"? No, that's ridiculous. I strongly urge you to go to a medical doctor to get all the tests to rule out a medical condition. You may not 'want' medication, but would you say, "Oh, I have a broken leg but I am NOT going to get a cast"? Just get some help, stop angsting about it.

hai friend,
your question is little common but quiet interest & different.
when on internet....while chating with some groups, communities, messenger rooms, some people may more dominent & hurt others. at that times we feel depress. but we have to overcome all these things. we have to neglect those little & narrow mind peoples & we have to move our own way with confident.
apart from these depression comes in different situations beacause it happens - some times - human nature
