You don't mention what stage his Alzheimer's is at, but few AD patients would be able to cope with dialysis past the very early stages of this disease.

Any illness in AD patients, worsens their symptoms of AD as there bodies are unable to cope with attack from mltiple fronts.

Expect his Alzheimer's symptoms to worsen rapidly.

The kidney failure will also making ill repidly.

If he is still coherent, I would be saying my good-byes while he still understands. I would not expect him to last long in these circumstances.

I am sorry for your loss, but having lost someone to Alzheimer's, know that you probably lost your grandfather some time ago and this is just a body housing a stranger that has now developed kidney failure.

His suffering should soon be at an end.
