For the past few weeks I have been experiencing a growing pain in my wrist. The pain originated under the ball portion of my wrist on the pinky side of my hand. If I bent it downward or turned the steering wheel or even use it to support me when I croutch it would send a sharp pain in that joint of my wrist. It feels as though it is enflamed and I am not sure if it is a tendon, carpal tunnel or what? The pain grows with each day and I am not seeing any physical signs (yet). Can anyone give me a diagonsis and if identified any remedies? Thank you kindly.

You should move this question to the plain "Health" category. You'll get a lot of answers there. Good luck. I wish I could help you. :)

I have carpal tunnel syndrome and what you are describing *could* be carpal tunnel, but it could also be several other things.

For example, you may have 'pinched' a nerve (more serious than it sounds) or have some other underlying condition.

Try 'strapping' your wrist and thumb area quite tightly (but not enough to stop circulation) for a period during the day and see if that brings relief to the tingling and burning sensation. If so, it likely IS carpal tunnel.

There are some simple exercises and health aids which can treat this common condition, but you need to consult a physician to discuss the best course of treament and eliminate other possibilities.

In other words ~ see your doc soon!

Take care :-)

If you do have carpal tunnel syndrome, I feel for you because your treatments and relief are minimal. My husband has CTS brought on my the repetative movements in his line of work. Initially, he had the jolts of pain through the wrist with numbness in the middle and ring fingers on both hands. The pain is intense since it involves nerve impingement. He had the surgery on both wrists. Surgery does not help in most cases. His pain is worse now than ever and the doctor will not prescribe an effective pain med. Solution: rest...which is hard to do when you have to work for a living. He also uses splints at night while sleeping. Reducing the movement when possible does help bring the swelling down but when you resume normal activity, the pain is back. Good luck to you.

Sounds as if it could be carpal tunnel syndome. There are wrist splints that you can buy at the pharmacy, and anti-inflammatories can help, such as Aleve and Ibuprofen. But if you don't see improvement with these measures, you will need to see an Orthopedist for a definite diagnosis. If you do have CTS, there are injections that can help, and finally surgery if you get no relief from those.
