Catholics believe that God transcends the human distinction between the sexes.
It is traditional and scriptural to address God as He or Him. However, if you wish, it would not be wrong to address God as She or Her.
Remember immediately after describing God as the Good Shepherd, Jesus describes God as a woman looking for her lost coin (Luke 15:8-10).

With love in Christ.

God is also mother because, for Pope John Paul I, God created us with love like a mother.

I believe that god is so powerful that he can be both mother and father. I think opoe john paul the first was trying to say that god can be both mother and father or however which way you want to believe in him. Plus, we really don't know whart he loks like or if he is male or female i think it is a mystery until we die or maybe we never see him he is just a strong energy of light never meant to be seen but only to watch over us.

God has created, is running, and will destroy the Universe. God is the Origin and Destination of the Universe. You give your Best, God will give thy Best. Ask God for help and forgive, God will help and forgive you. Pray; Worship and Thank God for everything. Remember wherever there is Happiness in Life, there will be Sorrow. To get Happiness, you must master Sorrow. For Success in Life; Believe in Self and God, Learn from Past, Concentrate in Present, Plan for Future. Have control on, be the master of, not the slave of your body, senses, and mind. Gain and Share utmost Knowledge and Experience to differentiate and choose Right, Good, God against Wrong, Bad, Devil. Set your Desire level perfect or OK to be brave, no low to be coward, no high to be cruel. You have rights of Survival, Self Defence, and Freedom.

Pope John Paul II: "God is Father, and even more, He is mother."
That's true. God is building a relatioship that we long for. A Fatherly Love and Motherly Love.
In Love is mutual not gender love.

I think he was trying to move the Catholic Church forward with the relatively new concept that both man and woman were created in God's image. For too long the Catholics and other religions were male dominated and women delegated as vessels for the male seed.
