You argue that if the Universe were only 6,000 years old, we wouldn't be able to see light from stars that are more than 6,000 light years away, yet we can. But don't you realize an all-powerful God can create the star and create its light so that it reaches the Earth already? After all, Genesis tells us that He created light before He created a source for the light, isn't that a sign of His great power? It also tells us that He put those stars in the firmament of the Heavens to give us light in the darkness. It would have been stupid for Him to put them so far away they didn't work, so of course He made their light reach Earth.

How do you answer to that?

There you go again... :) And again, I'm sure you're kidding, Mr. "Pull-My-Finger."

This is a variation on the old argument for the 6,000 y/o Earth (and universe, by the way) that is used to explain million-year-old fossles: Just as Adam and Eve were created as mature humans, not babies (ie, they could talk, walk, reason, etc.), so was the Earth created as a mature planet, complete with fossles, radiologically depleted plant materials, etc. God presumably did all this to make the world look older than it is.

No answer yet on why God would want to trick mankind into thinking the world is older than it really is...

actually it's a lot more that just the light from stars which would mean your god deliberately went out of his way to make the universe and earth seem much more than 6,000 years.

So what you're saying is that your god likes playing tricks on humans.

So did this god then also place fossils under a million years worth of sedimentary rock just for fun? Did he also create fossil fuel and make it look as if it took millions of years of organic matter build up to form?? Did he say "Hmm I see humans will make cars which will pollute my creation so I better make a fuel for those cars to help them out"???? What about the mosquito borne Plasmodium? did he make that and for the purpose of causing the death of over half of mankind since the stone age? What about all the other hominids we have evidence of? did he make those just to mess with us?? yeah ok I really think your argument is convincing.. hopefully god gave you the sense to recognize sarcasm..

We have seen supernovas more than 6,000 light years away. That means the star exploded before it was created.

To that, I say Goddidit" is too easy, too convenient, and is a woefully incomplete explanation for anything.

I pulled your finger. Now what?
