I know a couple that break up and always get back together. This has happened atleast 10 times in the past 3 years or so. She breaks up, then gets back with him. He always takes her back. What's up with that, I don't understand it!

They have serious issues to work out before they make any commitments. If they truly love each other, they should get couples counseling before they get married or have any children.

He probably doesn't have much confidence that he will find another girl that will like him. So he stays with the girl that doesn't really treat him right, but will keep going back. He needs to not get back together with her anymore if he doesn't like her, or the way things are going. That kind of relationship is never going to go anywhere.

it is because they think they can work it out and they don't see what everyone else sees that it is not going to work out. my roommate was with a girl on and off for 6 years when they finally called it quits and if it was me i would have called it quits 5 years ago. the ones in the relationship, don't see it cuz the think that that person is the one they truly love and well, love is blind. eventually your friend will give up because she will eventually see that all the bs she went through for that relationship was not worth it.

Basically, they're not going to last in the long run.

Neither one of them likes being alone though. They probably get back together just due to the familiarity and to avoid the loneliness.

They are both to lazy or stupid to get out of a shitty relationship. Stay well clear of the subject with your friend as often they will blame some one for there problems to justify there stupid actions.

On again, off again

Oh, and by the way, (this is a response to comment given on my question, Which celebrity do I most resemble?), were you trying to be funny? Rude?

It means they know they are wrong for each other but can't find anyone else. Eventually one of them will find someone else, and it will end. Rocky relationships just don't last.

I think it's misery loves company syndrome. There isn't anything you can do about it and I've never understood it either.
