I'm assuming this tumor is beneath the skin. If so, it's most likely a fatty tumor which is nothing to worry about. A good sign is that it is movable. Good luck :)
p.s. sorry just looked at the picture. There is be a possibility not probability of a lymphoma. This does need to be seen by a doctor. Once again, sorry I did not see the link until after my answer. This could very well be something benign. Remember when you hear hoof-prints think of horses before zebras. Best of luck :) Also, if it's been there for 25 years w/o any problems I would not necessarily stress over it but she does need to have it checked out. If only to alleviate your fears.

If she´s had it for 25 years with no changes I guess it should not be too dangerous.
Of course a tumor, lump or bump or any kind should always be diagnosed, treated and closely monitored by a physician.
If you have noticed or your mom, that there is a change on it (I am guessing since you are asking now after such a long time) you should get an appointment as soon as possible.

It could be, and then it could just be a reaction to something in her system. The only way to tell is to go to a specialist and have it checked out. If it's been there for 25 years, it's hard to understand why you don't really seem to know more about it, especially your Ma. How do you even know it's a 'tumor'? In any event, I'm no doctor and you'll likely not get professional advice or even responses from doctors online. Have her go get it biopsied to ease your mind.

If it has been there 25 years without growing further or causing other symptoms, then is probablly just a fatty tumour and totally benign.
If it was cancerous, having been left untreated for that long, the prognosis would be very poor.
If you are worried, see a medical professional for accurrate diagnosis rather than trusting strangers on the internet.

It is probably just a fatty tumor, or a blob of fat that is encapsulated and just stays there. the fact that it is soft and it moves, is what makes me think that. If her Dr. hasn't said anything about it, and she has had it for 25 years, I wouldn't worry too much about it unless it starts causing problems. If it starts to grow, or gets painful, or inhibits movement or swallowing, then it should be looked at again by a Doctor.

if you observe any sort of lump under the skin you should have it checked out. most lumps under the skin are Lipomas. they consist of fat and are located between the skin and the muscle layer.often they are identified easily with slight finger pressure and move readily. they are rubbery to touch and are not tender. it is not unusual to have several such collections. these lumps are rarely a cause for worry. you should have your physician examine the lump and if concerned they will order x-ray or a tomography scan of the area. a biopsy may also be necessary of the area. i would say if your mother has had this that long that it is indeed benign(non-cancerous). it looks to me to be a swollen lymph node. i hope this information was helpful. good luck and best wishes.

IF, IF, IF it has been there for 25 years without any change in size, color, tenderness, and texture, and "IF" she has no other symptoms like fatigue, fever, night sweat, voice change, and IF she has no other mass like that, then most probably it is a benign tumor.
But would you take a chance ? would you ignore it even if there is a very low chance of being a serious problem?
She needs to be examined, and also needs some tests to be done on her.
Take her to an INTERNIST(motekhasese dakheli)
good luck.

I have one, too, and I've had it for as long as I can remember. I've been told it is probably a lipoma (fatty tumor), and have elected not to have it removed because I think the scar from it would be worse than the actual mass.
