I just turn to the book of Psalms and start reading the first chapter, and the longer I read, the more uplifted I began to feel. For wisdom, I go to Proverbs. I love to read the whole, entire book of Ruth. It always gives me peace. She was a brave and courageous woman and did not have a problem submitting to Naomi's romantic coaching in regards to Boaz. It sure payed off in the long run.

Hebrews 10:35-36
Therefore do not cast away your (fearless) confidence (in the Lord), which has great reward. For you have need of endurance, so that after you have done the will of God, you may receive the promise:

Isaiah 41:10
Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.'

Philippians 4:13
I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

(Hebrews 12:1-3) . . .So, then, because we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us also put off every weight and the sin that easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, 2 as we look intently at the Chief Agent and Perfecter of our faith, Jesus. For the joy that was set before him he endured a torture stake, despising shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. 3 Indeed, consider closely the one who has endured such contrary talk by sinners against their own interests, that YOU may not get tired and give out in YOUR souls.

The Widow's Offering
Mark 12:41
Jesus sat down opposite the place where the offerings were put and watched the crowd putting their money into the temple treasury. Many rich people threw in large amounts. But a poor widow came and put in two small copper coins, worth only a fraction of a penny.
Calling his disciples to him, Jesus said," I tell you the truth, this poor widow has put more into the treasury than all the others. They gave out of their wealth; but she, out of her poverty, put in everything-- all she had to live on."

Psalm 91:1-13 (The Message translation)

You who sit down in the High God's presence, spend the night in Shaddai's shadow,
Say this: "God, you're my refuge.
I trust in you and I'm safe!"
That's right—he rescues you from hidden traps,
shields you from deadly hazards.
His huge outstretched arms protect you—
under them you're perfectly safe;
his arms fend off all harm.
Fear nothing—not wild wolves in the night,
not flying arrows in the day,
Not disease that prowls through the darkness,
not disaster that erupts at high noon.
Even though others succumb all around,
drop like flies right and left,
no harm will even graze you.
You'll stand untouched, watch it all from a distance,
watch the wicked turn into corpses.
Yes, because God's your refuge,
the High God your very own home,
Evil can't get close to you,
harm can't get through the door.
He ordered his angels
to guard you wherever you go.
If you stumble, they'll catch you;
their job is to keep you from falling.
You'll walk unharmed among lions and snakes,
and kick young lions and serpents from the path.

14-16 "If you'll hold on to me for dear life," says God,
"I'll get you out of any trouble.
I'll give you the best of care
if you'll only get to know and trust me.
Call me and I'll answer, be at your side in bad times;
I'll rescue you, then throw you a party.
I'll give you a long life,
give you a long drink of salvation!"

Hope this helps! Read through the Psalms -- they are wonderful prayers for your situation. Be at peace.

You have led in your steadfast love the people whom you have redeemed;you have guided them by your strength to your holy abode.

Exodus 15:13

Yes. We know its a real verse. However, you are being very inappropriate to a girl that 'seems' in need.

I am an atheist and I am assuming you are, too. This is not the question that needs a hard approach.

granny -- Jesus did suggest slaughter of His enemies. (thought to be the Jews - I don't know why, afterall He was a Jew.)

I look to Jesus life.

He drew followers with his peaceful ways. People claiming to love him and would die for him.

When the crowds turned on him chanting to release Barabas a murderous robber rather that the peaceful Jesus.

The mockery and beating.

Then dragging the cross up a hill hanging by his hands and feet from the cross and then praying for Jesus to forgive them for they know not what they do.

When people turn on me and I accept this with grace I have no where near enough ability to forgive and forget but pray each day to forgive and forget.

I try to take the challenges learn from them and help others avoid these pit falls if at all possible.
