It is possible you are allergic to chocolate. It is not that rare a food allergy.

Iona: While the throat itching is a common symptom of food allergy, sneezing is not. You did not mention if you break out in hives or have a bout of eczema after chocolate. These are two other common symptoms. The only way to know for sure is to have either a skin or RAST (blood) test for that specific allergen. While you are at it, you should have them check for other common allergens. Usually a person has more than one food allergen. Another culprit might be nuts, since they are often paired with chocolate. If the test is positive for chocolate, then you should remove it from your diet. I personally would avoid it right now since you suspect it. There is a pretty good substitute for chocolate called carob. You don't substitute it one for one for chocolate, because it has its own characteristics. I will give you a link that talks about chocolate allergy and carob. Check it out!

I knew someone personally who said chocolate made them sneeze; so it can happen. Try carob instead; it tastes similar to chocolate.
