It will relieve thirst, but it will destroy your kidneys. It's poison. Several years ago someone decided to experiment. He drank nothing but sea water, but he drank gallons of it. It sure enough relieved his thirst, but he died within two weeks.

So, the lesson is this: If you are stranded in the ocean with nothing to drink, and you are certain you won't be rescued; you will at least be able to live for a few more days by drinking sea water. If there is a chance for rescue though, don't do it.

Sea water or salt water would not be a good idea to drink. Instead of relieving thirst it makes you thirstier and requires you to drink more regular water. The salt inside sea water adsorbs all of the water that you have inside.

Sea Water, why would you want to drink that?
It tastes Rubbish. only when you evaporate it and condense it back again can you drink it safely.
i remember a film (think it was "Alive" early 90s?) where the survivors think that drinking sea water from deeper down also has less salt in it, thats wrong too!
Save the sea water and open another Beer.
:D
hope i helped.

My dog drank it once while we were jogging at the beach. On the way home, he had a blow out from the other end. It was horrible. I couldn't stop laughing.
