My M.I.L. has been one for a few years now and has become a happier person because of it. I am a preacher of a small non-denominational church and I am appalled at how some posters respond to/about J.W.'s Granted, we obviously don't share the same views, but all of the J.W.'s I've met have always been nice and really seem to try and live their lives the way God instructed US all to do. Why then are some of you so mean??? Seeing some of these answers gives me a great idea on what my word will be this Sunday. Love thy neighbor...

Please don't take my words out of context. Did I say being nice was all it takes? No and neither did I imply as much.

vorenhutz, I tend to agree however I am only speaking of how I perceive some of the answers. If you look, you will see. Some of them are just down right hateful; and from people who call themselves Christians.

I have never had a problem with the J.W.'s. They seem to be honest folk who want to share their religion. Nothing wrong with that. I also believe that we should all love our neighbor.

Those who choose to bash the beliefs of others are not true followers of God.

Simple, the majority of people can´t bear the message of God´s kingdom, for some people to know that Satan will be removed from the position of ruler of this world (1 John 5:19) and Jesus will be set as a ruler of the earth (Revelation 5:10) is offensive, to know that Jesus will transform this planet after Armageddon in a paradise as God almighty decided in the begining (Genesis 1:27-28) and will eliminate all the problems (Isaiah 35:5-6, Psalms 72:16, John 5:28-29) is against his agenda, that is why the more we preach they more the hate increase.

They are easy pickings because
1) there don't appear to be very many on here to defend themselves
2) they differ enough from mainstream Christianity that they bring the wrath of Christians as well as nonbelievers down upon their belief system
3) they evangelize at people's homes, which many find very annoying

lets see. they bother me at my home. by knocking on my door either early in the morning when i am trying to sleep. or in the evening when i am trying to eat dinner.

when i explain to them that they are at a Pagan household..
the come back when most people are at work and try to convert my children!

unluckily for them. i work 12 hour night shifts. and my kids know to wake me if anyone comes to the door.

after the third time that i tell someone that i am not interrested i begin to become rude.

my kids are free to make their own choices. there are several bibles, a book of mormon, and the peral of great price, and many other religious texts that are free and open for them to study and read as they see fit.

i will not have some stranger telling my children that their beliefs are wrong. or trying to scare them with their stories of hell.

if the JW's want to come to my house and preach. that is actually fine with me. i will arrange a time with them and i will even cook dinner and gather my whole family..we will listen to whatever they have to say.

in return i expect the same courtesy. to go to their home and tell their children about my many gods and the merrits of the Pagan lifestyle.

i have not found one that will take me up on this deal..

(one mormon missionary did. and i have remained friends with her and her family ever since)

Because they afraid to Open their Doors when the Witnesses come calling and have a decent conversation with them, so this is a place for them to Vent. Sad Really.

well sure, they are human - they can be nice, happy and also believe things that fly in the face of reality. there is no need to be mean to them of course but for some people, pointing out that they have beliefs that fly in the face of reality is percieved by them as being mean.

Its a cult! Just like the LDS, (mormons). When they are told the truth they think they are being bashed. If you don't understand that i would seriously question your salvation. I know there are some mean people out there, but sometimes the truth hurts. I was raised in the mormon cult, sometimes i get mad at them for lieing to me. Then i realize who really controls them. And I'm sure there are many of them who are outstanding people, but that doesn't mean they are right. No where does the Bible say though shalt tolerate false religion's.

Because they are not allowed to have fun and it is annoying when they come a-knocking on my door. Who needs 'em?

BTW, God didn't instruct us to live life a certain way, people did.

Honestly, I think door to door salesmen just plain annoy people.

Because it is a cult... Look it up... look up the stories of those who have been there and ran away, because of their experiences. I know many people who have. Research it's history, especially the part on the creator creating the religion because he didn't like hell, so he made a religion to fit his beliefs.

Below are some websites for recovering Jehovah's.. And there are many more...
