I have to admit --- I love rap (I'm from Memphis, can't help it, it is awesome) and I love Jesus. But all the Christian rap I've ever heard could take the hristian out and that would pretty much be what it is. DC Talk has a good message but it's ... so... bland. Similar story with the other Christian rap I've heard.
Have to admit this song is awesome. Don't mind that they name checked Memphis, either! Thanks for introducing me to this, just might buy this record now!

Music has three elements: melody, harmony, and rhythm. Among these elements, melody corresponds most with the intellect; it is the "mind" of the music, (hopefully) guiding it.
Harmony is the heart. The heart and emotion are treasures, but can easily lead us astray unless they are guided by the mind. Likewise, in music, harmony should be guided by the melody, not the other way around.
Rhythm corresponds with the carnal passions; also created by God, and part of what keeps us living and serving Him here. However, these have more of a potential to lead us astray than any other part of us. They can be oriented towards the glory of God, if they are rightly tempered by the mind and the heart, but they will always seek to dominate us.
In music, in order for it to be healthful these three elements should be in perfect order: melody, harmony, rhythm=intellect, heart, passions. We will eventually become what we pray. If rhythm rules in prayer, we will over time develop a tendency to approach God with the sensual part of our soul, thus stifling our entry into the contemplative night, and finally the dark night of purgation, during which time the comforting sense of the Holy Spirit is removed, and deprived of all desires but that of the glory of God, we come to seek in in the darkness of faith alone.

Music for worshipping and singing praises to God is not limited to the Fanny Bryce 1800s . God loves it when people use music to sing to Him. RAP (although I do not prefer it) is alright with Jesus and God has not forgotten today's generation. I would love to hear a Psalm put to RAP music - it would sure be unique ... God Bless !!!

"Ridin' With My Top Down,
Listenin' To That Jesus Music....."
Now I will be going around singing this little ditty all day tomorrow.
Shoot, wonder what my Southern Baptist white friends will think about that?
Aw, I don't care. I love it!!!

Well, it's better than most all other rap I have heard but I don't think I'll have them play it at my wedding (or my funeral, as far as that goes.)
