I would say Switzerland. Being a neutral country where many rich foreigners hide their money, they would need people who would speak many different languages. The people not involved in banking would at least speak 4 or 5 - French, German, English, Spanish, & Italian being the most popular throughout Europe.

I suspect not. India does have many languages, but most people speak their native language, Hindi, English (sometimes marginally), and that's about it. In contrast, Belgians speak Flemish, French, German, and English (and often a couple of additional languages to boot). Swedes and the Dutch tend to be the same way.

My grandfather came from Belgium. His native language was Flemish but he had to learn French when he was in the military. He also knew German quite well. He learned English when he came to this country and that was pretty much the only language he spoke for the rest of his life.

Israel. As Jews all over the world migrated back to Israel, they brought their native langauge with them. In order to obtain Israeli citizenship, they must attend classes where they undertake exstensive studies of the Hebrew language. Many of these also study Arabic because it is close to Hebrew, and Arabic is spoken in countries all around Israel. Israeli immagrants may also learn the native language of their friends, who may be immigrants from an other country.
