DEI was left to her by her husband Dale Sr. It seemed that Jr was great with it until he couldn't win a race, then he decides he needs to take over the company???? Everyone is upset because Teresa won't give up DEI?? She didn't take anything away from anyone, When Sr died DEI became Teresa's, Jr left because she wouldn't give up what is rightfully her's. I bet if Jr would have won a race this year, all of this would never had happend! Martin Truex won a race, drivers who have DEI engines all have won races. I don't think its Teresa Earnhardt who is being selfish, i think its Jr, he couldn't win a race so he took it out on Teresa, tried to take DEI from her, and then turned everyone against her!!!

Wow, for a simple question, you sure woke up the neighborhood... lol
Your right though, and you didn't say all drivers with DEI engines won you said drivers, which could be one, two, and so on. I would suggest to KNOW IT NONE, and LIL Smurf above me, think before your mouth embarrasses you.. The Business was started by Sr. and Theresa. So all your Birthrite Gibberish is just what you think should have happened and not real life..
Not to worry, he's coming to Proffesor Gordons School of winning now, so hopefully he takes notes.... LMFAO

I guess it depends in how you look at things.... what most believe Dale Sr. wanted or the letter of the law at the time he died. Many believe that Sr. built the company to eventually hand down to his son. But we all know that Sr. died in an unexpected fluke accident. Yeah, we all know there is a risk and a driver could get killed any given day.... but in the history of NASCAR there have been less than 40 deaths on the track. Dale Sr. had probably counted on retiring from racing long before he expected to die on the track.

As far as Dale JR. was concerend is that he was not winning championships that he felt he was capable of and he felt Teresa was not allowing him the ability to reach his full potential. And it is not really a secret Dale Jr. expected more say so in decisions effecting his future which Teresa seemed to be in a power struggle over with Dale Jr.

On the other hand, some would say being married almost 20 years to Dale Sr., Teresa was as much a part of DEI as anyone and had the right to do whatever she wanted with the company even if that meant making bad decisions.

Either way you look at it, I think what fans are frustrated with the most is the simple fact it is hard to believe these issues would be present if he were still alive and this whole situation has to have Sr. turning in his grave. Maybe Teresa could have given JR. more authority and given Dale Jr. a chance to succeed or fail within the walls of DEI. Maybe Dale Jr. could have tried to work with Teresa more and found a compromise somewhere?

Either way, Hendrick was a good choice. Like Richard Petty said (not the exact quote) "Jr. could have gone anywhere and it would not have mattered if he succeeded or not. But with Hendrick and having the same equipment as Johnson and Gordon, Jr. will have no choice but to win or get out".

So in 2008 everyone can shut up and quit talking about how good Jr. is or isn't..... Next year, Dale Jr. will make it a fact one way or the other. And let's forget about DEI and Jr. and look to tomorrow and not what was or simply wasn't.

Because they don't have anything better to do, somewhat like the trolls. I don't agree with you about the success without Teresa because I believe that Dale Sr would have made it with or without any help because he was that great. Dale Jr is a good driver, but not as good as his dad was. Of course there were bad feelings between Jr and Teresa. The majority of the time, when there are step-kids or step-parents involved, there will be issues. Some can be worked out and some can not. This does not mean that it is any ones fault, just that there is not as much emotion to deal with, when it is not your biological child. Sad but true. People tend to forget the love that Dale Sr and Teresa had for each other and it has been a rough road for her having to continue running a business and dealing with his and their kids and still have a grieving process. REMEMBER folks, everyone has feelings and unless you have walked in their shoes, give them a break.

pay attention.

This thing has been going on for along time not just this year.
He wanted 51% so he could get the people in the shop who could help them keep up with the rest of the field and shwe wouldn't do it. Sr's was good because he knew and was able to adjust to new techknowedgy when he died the brain of DEI died too. They were there for a while at the big tracks but after a few years the other teams caught up and passed DEI like they were parked. Jr. seen this and knew they needed help.

Now take a look back to when Jr said he was going. She is now loading her shop up with all the big names Yates, Childress, driver Martin. You really don't think this was just away to get the stepson that she didn't get along with out of the picture?

They are people too and it's not only in fairy tales does the step mother not like the fathers child from another mother.

I think it is because DEI is (or should I say was) part of Dale Sr's legacy. I don't think even Jr wants to see DEI go under, but it will if she keeps running it the way she has. As for a comment above me, I agree 100%... DEI was built by Sr, Jr and the Eurys. I never have seen her put her life on the line for DEI. Dale Jr made the Busch series more exciting to watch than the Cup series. I'll stop there.

I can't say I totally agree with you, but you do bring up some good points. We will never really know what it all entails, but Dale Sr. did publically state he created the company to leave to his kids. This didn't happen, for whatever reasons. I do think Teresa was being selfish when she wouldn't negotiate reasonably for the #8 (not to rehash that all over again), because it was his grandfathers #. KARMA is a strange thing...everything you do seems to come back to in the end, one way or another. Everyone involved in that "mess" will get whatever it is they deserve, when all is said and done. I think it all turned out the way it was meant to be.

Go JR.>>>>

I certainly don't hate Teresa but conversely, I don't have any respect for her either. Reading through all the answers to this, common threads come from both sides of this:
1) Teresa and Junior don't (and likely have never) get along
2) Why do they not get along? Probably because of internal family issues having to do with behaviors and temperaments and family hierarchy that go back to the days when the kids first arrived on Sr and Teresa's doorstep. You don't get to this stage of life and suddenly develop such intense negative feelings for each other. It's taken a while to get to this point.
3) I suspect Teresa is afraid Junior will ultimately some day far surpass the popularity and proficiency on the track that his father did (not sure that's realistic but I can envision her thinking about that). I suspect Teresa sees herself as the keeper of the dream. I suspect Junior sees himself as the rightful heir to the dream.
4) It appeared in the dialog of the movie DALE that Sr intended DEI to be a security blanket for Teresa AND "his children". I fully believe he meant ALL his children. I also fully believe he felt invincible and that even the thought of an accident taking his life so early and so swiftly was not on his radar screen. In another five years or so, I'll bet he'd have had things more "in place" for that eventuality but he died too soon.
5) I think Teresa depended on Dale Sr to be the Operations partner. I think Dale Sr depended on Teresa to be the Administrative/Financial partner. Together they were an excellent team. Minus one partner, neither would have been as strong as they were together. Dale Jr finally grew up and wanted to assume the Operations partner position along with his other siblings but for some reason Teresa felt that would be like loosing Dale Sr completely and couldn't bring herself to do it. I don't think there was ever even a sliver of a chance of any sort of deal being worked out where that would happen. That's where I loose respect for her. Clearly Junior and Kelly are a team and clearly their interest is in the Operations end of the business. I think they could have made DEI a powerhouse if they could have found a way to work together. THAT would have made Dale Sr proud: to have had his beloved wife and his children working TOGETHER to make his namesake company truly his legacy.
Had Teresa sucked it up and looked at the change dispassionately and with true wisdom and financial forethought and without all this emotional baggage, all of them could have had a gold mine for years to come. She was the older and more experienced business person here. She could have been the leader, the mentor. But she chose to remain the evil step mother and let her personal emotions get in the way of good business decisions. She has been unable to separate intra-family squabbles from good busines strategies. So this is where she looses me. And Junior just finally said "Screw it, I'm outta here". At least there's ONE person in the family who can see the handwriting on the wall and move forward.

Here's my 2 cents worth....Sr. wanted his kids to have the company, no one can dispute that. My question is, why didn't he put that into writing? Look at the sport he was in. There have been many racing deaths but he never put in writing that the company was to go to his children. That's something to think about.
I also wonder how well a company would run if the majority stock holders were his children. Think about it this way. How long into a season would it be before the arguing starts on how to market this or who should drive that. It could go on and on. I have seen what happens when parent(s) die and everything is left to the kids. Nothing but chaos. Hopefully, she wants jr. to concentrate on racing and not worrying about other aspects of the sport. Hopefully, she is looking out for what's best for her company. Yes, it is her company. Sad but true.
Time will tell.

It's not about hate. I think there is more to it then we'll ever know. We will probably find out in a E! True NASCAR Story of Dale Jr some day.

Honestly, it's just weird. His engines are bad all the time. Why? Truex Jr. has the same engines and why aren't his blowing up either? It's just odd.

I think he had to give it a try. In my opinion, Dale Jr. made that company more money then any other team in NASCAR. I think they will suffer a little. I mean, they won't go bankrupt, but they will not make as much w/ out him.

Hey, when you are a Jr. fan you can't help but like him. He's a good ol' boy and he is the closest thing we have to his dad..and his dad sure is missed. I think there is one thing he got from his dad was to fight for what you want...and I think Jr. had to fight for what he wanted..he lost and now he will move on...but in the end, he'll be the winner..because he's Dale Jr!

All i know is that Dale Sr. built the company for Jr. to race there. He never thought for a sec. that he would die that day and Teresa would run his son away from the company. The reason Jr. is leaving is because he has no say with his team. Teresa took crew chief from Jr. and give him to Michael W. to try to get him to win then turned around and put them back.
Jr. had no say in his team and what happen in the company. Teresa could do what ever she wanted to with no regard to how it would effect him. So he went to a place where he could trust the people to make discussions to help him not hurt him.
