Make your choice of two different colored cake batters - like chocolate and yellow or white and strawberry, etc. Pour 1/3 pan of main color then 1/3 pan of alternate color. Use a knife or a thin spatula to swirl the top color into the main batter - not to mix, but to swirl or marble the colors. It's not quite a folding action, but definitely don't just mix them together in the baking pan or you lose the marble effect.
If you're making a layer cake, reverse your colors in the second pan so your marbling mistakes aren't as obvious!
Don't fill your cake pan over 2/3s or it can overflow in your oven when it's baking. Don't forget that most cakes freeze well after they're baked if you end up with 2 whole cakes rather than only the one cake you wanted.

equall amounts of yellow cake and chocolate-or devils food. it will make two cakes obviously so after you mix your batter, take 1/4 yellow and pour into cake pan, followed by adding 1/4 chocolate right in the center of the yellow. then take a knife and swirl slowly around till it looks like art!! repeat that till you have four cake pans full and there ya go!!, you can also take raspberry or strawberry glaze with any cake mix and do the same thing for a ras--or strawberry swirl cake.

I buy the marble mix, but when i want my own variations I test different flavors in my cake, obvious is choc, and whi or yellow. I add my plain cake then add the other cake in dobs throught the cake(split your cake mix 2/3 and 1/3) plain more mix, the globs ar the left over, add flavor like cocoa, or flavored gelatin, or extract. anyway play conect the blobs with just drawing a butter knife from glob to glob, in one direction or swirly motion, i use swirly for round cake square cake i do the wave look, just straight throught with knife. Good luck

White cake mix swirled into chocolate cake mix; for a nice Neapolitan, swirl in some strawberry mix.
