I'm thinking nuclear war. It'll turn all the waters of the world into a bitter poison. Some people think it's an asteroid that hits the earth and contaminates the water supply.

In Scripture, wormwood is compared to the aftereffects of immorality (Pr 5:4) and the bitter experience that was to come and did come upon Judah and Jerusalem at the hands of the Babylonians. (Jer 9:15; 23:15; La 3:15, 19) It also represents injustice and unrighteousness (Am 5:7; 6:12) and is used with reference to apostates. (De 29:18) At Revelation 8:11, wormwood denotes a bitter and poisonous substance, also called absinthe.

Nothing in the Book of Revelation is literal. Wormwood represents the evil doctrines of evil men that they try to pass off as God's word.

The Book of Revelation was completely fulfilled during the Roman Empire (27BC - 1453AD).

Not as exciting as Left Behind but at least it's TRUE.

the majority of christianity believes that wormwood is a falling star.
others believe that cherynoble is also wormwood.
I read in a bible subtext that wormwood could apply to single human being.

if your talking about an asteroid it would have to affect Most of europe or all north america when considering land mass

According to Manly P. Hall, "A star, which was called Wormwood, fell from heaven, thereby signifying that the secret doctrine of the ancients had been given to men who had profaned it and caused the wisdom of God to become a destructive agency."

Wormwood is also used as a cure for people with gallstones. For those who say "Chernobyl" is Russian for "wormwood", they have to go back and take more Russian. Anything with the word "Cher" in it usually refers to, (you guessed it), cherries, which are revered as they are in Japan. "Chorn" is "black"
"Polyn" is wormwood. If you really want to twist it around, "Chernobyl" CAN also be translated as "mugwort" (In Ukrainian) but in Russian, "Chernobyl" means "black grass"
