Not a hypothetical answer...
I had a professor in college. He had grown up a devout Catholic. Catholic school, alcolyte, always knew he would be a priest. After seminary he became an assistant at a mid-west Catholic church. Then the Civil Rights Movement hit and he traveled down South to register black people to vote. His home church told him to stop and come home or be excommunicated. He chose to stay and keep registering voters. He went on to meet his future wife there and has never looked positively on organized religion since.
Makes perfect sense to me. How do Christian's justify so much hate and prejudice?

Faith is not something most people lose, they may turn their back on belief in God, because the religion they were associated with, was either wrong or things that were important were hidden so as not to bring reproach on the church. or a variety of things. But the truth is , man is suppose to put his faith in God, not a man made organization that claims to be God's church.

I can't speak for anyone else. Whenever I despair and wonder "what the heck was that all about? Hey, Big Guy, why did you do that? He doesn't mind you questioning Him. It's VERY hard to do sometimes but...Let go and let God. He knows the bad stuff that happens too. Mugabe, Bin Laden or your hamster being sick. He knows and He cares.

If their faith was anchored in something that was not solid. If your faith is based on man or a belief then it is sure to be shaky. If your faith is solidly planted and anchored in God Himself then thats another matter altogether.
God is unchanging.. there is no shadow of turning with Him.

Some people find it very difficult to loose a love one. They can't understand why God would take that person. I think that some would question their faith because of this type of circumstance.

Well this is really a individual based question, isn't it?
But I guess when Jesus comes back everyone faith who is not in Christ will be redirected immediately. They will loose any previous notion of faith.

A SECOND DEATH. BELIEVE ME IT HAPPENED TO ME.
I lost faith in God. I lost relationship. I misunderstood my faith.
I'm the lost child. I do not know where to go. My own desire and evil fashioned me.
In God's grace and goodness like a good Shepperd He rescued me to the second death. Now, I'm struggling to regain my faith, hope and love.
I'm very thankful to God.
