The A570IS since it has optical Image Stabilization and offers you full Manual Control. If you shop carefully you should be able to find it well under $200.00.

In the 3 classes of digital cameras, (consumer, prosumer and professional) ($300 on down, $1000 on down and over $1000 in that order), it all depends on what kind of pictures you plan to take. In the consumer fixed lens viewfinder small size cheep class, you need to consider ease of operation, personal like of it's look and feel and weather or not it has both a small viewfinder window to look through along with the bigger screen on the back. The ones with only the back screen are not quite as user friendly (cell phone cameras fall into this mess) and are very near imposable to use out side in bright sun light. Other than that, any less than $200 will take snap shots, but don't plan on making the cover of your favorite magazine with it. THEY ARE ALSO expendable, when the rubber band breaks, throw it away. There is no service for them when dropped, got wet, etc.

They're so similar it's just a total toss-up. I own a Canon and I love it. Mine is called an SD900, though. I think it was about $200 or maybe $250 (I'm not sure though). It takes the BEST pictures without even trying. They're wonderful cameras.

Depends on what you shoot:
If you like shooting portraits and night shots use a nikon.
If you like shooting action and fast paced stuff get a canon.
First let me suggest you get neither one of those Power Shots, Both of those are under a CCD RE-CALL with the canon Factory in Irvine California.
(That means after a few months all your pictures are gonna be distorted)
Sony Also has nice Digital Cameras.
Look up these terms in Yahoo or Google:
Canon SD Series (SD1000 is nice)
Nikon CoolPix Series
or Sony DSC-P series (like the dsc-p200 is sweet)

I would recommend the Canon A570 IS because it has image stablization, which means your photos are less likely to come out blurry. That means better photos for you!

I have the a570 and love it, my mom has the 560 and it isn't as nice as mine BUT mine wastes batteries REALLY bad. I have some other stuff she doesn't but as I said, new batteries will last maybe one day (I take lots of pictures though).
