Vaseline is petroleum jelly. Vaseline is the brand. I guess it OK, I know many people who have used it. I think they make some special stuff for this now, but, not sure what it called.

No jelly type things. No vaseline, petroleum jelly in it's whole form or neosporn. White unscented lotion as needed while it's healing and keep it moist also after wards. Use sunscreen when it will be exposed to the sun and yes, keep using lotion. You wont your skin a healthy moist not dry and cracked.

Don't use Vaseline. Don't use ointments. Don't use Polysporin/Neosporin, etc.

Vaseline and ointments don't allow your tattoo to breathe, and the sporins will draw the tattoo ink out of your body, as they are intended to do.

The best thing to use is unscented body lotion, such as Lubriderm, or tattoo cream, like H2Ocean.

Only apply it 2-3 times/day, and don't smother your tattoo. Just a thin layer of moisturizer will do.

You'll need to moisturize your tattoo until it's fully healed, which typically can take up to 8 weeks. You'll know it's healed when all the scabs have fallen off and when your skin no longer feels tight.

After that, you don't need to do anything to take special care of your tattoo, other than protecting it against UV rays by using sunblock or something similar.

I have two tattoos. So far I have liked Aquaphor. It's a healing lotion recomended by my tat artist in San Antonio. You can get it at Walmart. It's a bit pricy, but it doesn't take much and it keeps your tat nice a moist for a long time. I have been told that vaseline and antibiotic creams leave it either too dry or too moist. Both can pull the ink out. Good luck!

i would recommend cocoa butter because they say when you put Vaseline and petroleum jelly takes the ink out of your tattoo.

Vasline is petroleum jelly and it should never be used on a tattoo. It can discolor your new ink. Always always always use an unscented lotion. Always.

...Nothing with a petroleum base should be used. Use bacitracin for the first week, then you can switch to hand lotion till it heals.

Yeah, Vaseline is a good moisturizer for tattoos...It doesn't hurt to moisturize them every day.

Neither are good. They draw the ink back out of your skin. Use Bactrim. But not too much.
