What is the gas mileage of the tanks in iraq? Can anybody point me to an article that might tell me?

Considering the Iraqi t-72 tanks get 0 miles to the gallon, yes, our tanks do consume fuel. But the Iraqi takns don't move, they are piles of scrap metal !

As I recall, the tanks get about 5 gallons to the mile. The Gas turbine engine on the M1 is a bit of a fuel guzzler.

M1 Abrams gets 7 gallons to the mile. It takes 5 gals just to start.

Also factor in that it takes almost 20 gallons just to start the turbine engine.

My rough guess would be, depending on which tank, weight and speed and fuel (Diesel or Gasoline) anything between 1mpg and 0.1mpg. Some have turbos and could even burn at top speeds much more.
