I think you are referring to the bumps on her front teeth - these are called mamelons and are quite natural. They will wear down in time. If the dentist files them down he will be removing enamel and possibly cause some sensitivity. At 13 she is still very young and It would probably be better to wait until she is older (through school) before making decisions that may affect her adversely. How happy would you be if at 13 she decided to have piercings or tattoos? Changing her appearance is along the same lines and she needs to fully understand and appreciate what she is doing. Plus by then it may not be necessary and they may have worn flatter!

All teeth have ridges. They're actually called pits and fissures and they make it possible to tear and chew food. If she's uncomfortable with the ridges on her front teeth, they can be smoothed a little. It doesn't hurt, but the teeth will feel gritty for a couple of weeks.

only thing i could think of is them being mamelons....those usually occur with children 6-10...they usually get grinded down with normal chewing. they only occur on the incisors. if thats the case, then your daughters teeth should be fine. do some research and see if they are mamelons...

AT 13 SHE SHOULD HAVE WORN AWAY HER MAMMELONS BY NOW. THE DENTIST CAN QUICKLY AND PAINLESSLY MAKE THEM BLEND WITH THE REST OF THE TOOTH.
DOES SHE HAVE AN OPEN BITE? A CONSULT WITH AN ORTHODONTIST IS IN ORDER.
