I got a little internet happy and purchased 100 books of matches personalized with my wedding date and mine and my fiance's name.

What type of favors could I use them for? They will not have a purpose at the reception, so I have decided to give them away as favors. What can I pair them up with?

The obvious answer is candles, as you can see from everyones answers, but how about getting an inexpensive 'larger' glass votive holder and put the matches and a scented tea light inside, put a ribbon at the top with a tag on it that reads : Since we're a perfect Match, we thought you should have one too! Thanks for sharing our day!

I'm thinking the front and center one would be perfect and should only be like 50 cents or so:

At your venue, there will be place or two to which smokers resort for indulging their addiction. Put baskets of matches there. If you haven't bought favors yet, why bother? This is a fake "tradition" invented by the The Wedding Industry to finagle you into buying yet more frivolous frippery; these overly cute little gifts usually end up at Goodwill in a few months, especially the kind with names and date. Put that money to a better use: a better band, more champagne, richer dessert, an extra guest or two. Since neither Miss Manners nor Emily Post tells us that favors are necessary, you can be confident that there is nothing "lacking" or "weird" about omitting them. Tell the bloodsucking Wedding Industry vendors to put that in their pipe and smoke it -- and hand them a book of lovely personalized matches to light up with.

Buy little tea candles in various scents. Put a book of matches along with one candle and wrap them up in whatever packaging you like best. Include a tag that says something about the perfect match.

You can usually order a little favor box for nearly nothing, or buy them at a paper store. I put candy in mine and matches. If you have various favors just put an assorment at each table. People will pick them up.

Give your guests a scented candle to go with your matches. You can have them monogramed here http://www.personalizationmall.com/product.aspx?productid=7354&storeid=7&categoryid=1154&itemid=23950&did=14000 You can put your names and the wedding date on them. You can also get a monogramed unity candle from this site as well. Congrats!

How about little votive candles wrapped in tulle or in a fancy box. I wouldn't put your names on them, though. This site has lots to choose from:

Good luck!

Just put them by the plates at the dinner, along with the personalized napkins.
