Parking lots are a source of problems because people do not use good manners or good judgement. There is a limit to speed, dictated by good jugement--10 is about it if it is conjested and busy. That allows for swift stops for anyone who backs out without looking first. That happens a lot---so beware of that move. And YOU should always look real good for walkers and cars before backing out. Back out slowly. You are in control of your car at all times--so don't be rushed by car horns or impatient drivers. And a race to get a spot leaves no winners if you collide or it enrages a driver. Let them have the spot--you will find another. Avoid enraged drivers--do not engage them in a verbal confrontation. People can and do get hurt in fights--someone always winds up injured in a fight--that's a good reason to avoid the whole thing. Some towns do have powers to enforce auto operations in lots--the cops can and do patrol looking for reckless people and speed demons.Parking lots are a good place to issue summonses--people drive like fools and forget that kids are there--old people are there--handicapped people are there. So just drive slow and easy and be alert. Be courteous and you WIN.
