Back in the day.....

Depending on the source, homemade can be pretty much pure (like Everclear) - like 2-3 times the alcohol of a normal shot

Anyone who tells you that moonshine isn't that strong does not know what they're talking about.

Most whiskey in the liquor store is 86 proof, thats 43% alcohol by volume. Moonshine usually comes in at 190 proof, or 95% alcohol. The supplier I know of puts his at about 120 proof, or 60% alcohol.

Moonshine is not aged, it's clear. It can be a bit harsh, but not necessarily (not that I've ever had any, lol).

As far a getting a buzz on just a tablespoon, well a tablespoon is 1/2 of a fluid ounce. So even at 190 proof, a tablespoon of moonshine would be the equivilent of about 1 ounce of regular 86 proof bourbon. You can feel the effects of an ounce of 86 proof bourbon, buts it's not enough, by itself, to put you over the legal limit.

In other words, you really won't get drunk off a tablespoon of moonshine. That said, you can still convince yourself that you did.

Even a tablespoon of ethyl alcohol would hardly get anyone that drunk and moonshine isn't that strong.
It would depend on the proof to which it was distilled. The higher the proof, the less it will take to feel the affects of ethyl alcohol.
Contrary to popular legend, moonshine is not particularly strong, just raw, unaged and illegal.

About the same amount as it commercial hard liquors - it all depends on how high a proof the 'shine was cooked off at. BTW the story of a tablespoon getting your sister drunk is pure ******** and I think you are about 12 years old....

probly not literally drunk but its fairly strong bite tends to cause most to change their breathing from coughting to holding thier breathe which adds to the sensation of buzzing
